Hello friends! :)

I would like to count with your help, please. I was following the hype of Skyrim, and am very excited by the game. I have played around 4 hours on Oblivion, and would like to know, please, if is it worth to purchase and play Skyrim without having played any other game from the franchise? With my poor experience on Oblivion, for example?

I know nothing about the universe. Even so, can I play and enjoy the game

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Of course you can but you're missing out as a gamer not having the experiences of Morrowind and Oblivion under your belt, go get them and play those as well.

The only thing he's missing out on from Oblivion is frustration and anger.

You'll be fine. They're almost entirely standalone. There's background details that you'll miss, but that's all it is.

I'd say yes. To me it's the most accessible installment in TES series (mainly because character building is made easier). If you've played Fallout 3, though you don't have to, you'd be even more at home.

Bethesda's idea with The Elder Scrolls series was to make a series of games that don't really link to each other; the story doesn't depend on previous games. Although, it does make the games better because there might be references from previous games that might be funny or helpful.
I have Morrowind sitting on my computer, but I've never really played it. I find the animations too weird to watch, and I don't understand the UI and the NPCs not being voiced is too weird for me, since I played Oblivion first.

Um, no. Besides residing in the same continent, none of the games are connected.

Yes, there may be one or two lore references from previous games but that is about it; as for the asinine remarks about the PC version ignore them, it is fine.

I have clocked about 9 hours now and feel it is possibly the best rpg I have played since building my first zx80 from a kit, and name an rpg released in the west and I guarantee I have played it. The controls are better when reassigned and the keys and interface are not as intuitive as they could be but it doesn't take long to adjust, in my case I just mapped the keys causing some folks problems to my mouse and all is well.
