Would Skyrim look better on my PC than my 360?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 3:29 am

Obviously Skyrim has the potential to look better on a PC, but I'm curious to know if it will on my PC specifically. My specs are listed below, and the PC is connected to my 1080P television so I will be playing in that resolution.

CPU: Intel i7 920
RAM: 6GB
HDD: 40GB SSD system drive, 1TB 5400RPM data drive
Graphics: ATI HD5770

I think those are all the relevant components, but if I forgot something let me know. I know I probably can't run the game on ultra high settings as my system is almost two years old. What I'm curious about is whether whatever settings I can run it on smoothly will look better than the game on a 360 (or PS3 for that matter).

bethesda didn't add better textures or effects for the pc version, so no. Same thing.

It will, however, run at a higher fps and you can have a longer draw distance on items, grass, etc. Plus there are mods.

Wrong. My PC is almost exactly the same and I run the graphics settings almost all to the max at a resolution of 1920x1080 and it looks way better than the Xbox 360 version. (i own both)

I have it on 3 PC's here. The worst system is a Q6600 / 8 gig ram / EVGA GTX 285 / 1 TB HD. We have everthing cranked to max there and have no issues with performance.

As for looking better, I highly doubt it. The graphics in this game make me want to cry with how bad they are. I expected something to blow my socks off instead I got a game that isn't as good as Crysis was .. ya Crysis 1.0.

The other systems are much more powerful then the one mentioned (EVGA GTX 580 / i7 980x / 12 gig / 1tb raid 0 (4 drives)) and the game plays fine (when it's not crashing) but doesn't look all that hot. So, IMO, save your money and don't get it for a PC. If you are a PC gamer looking for the best graphical gaming experience out there, don't by from Bethesda. I know for my family this will most likely be the final title we buy from them. It's too bad we pre-ordered the game expecting it to live up to the hype given out by Bethesda themselves. This would be a great game to just share amoung the family instead of having 3 seperate copies.
