Would you ever like to live in the WH40k universe?

Post » Tue Aug 20, 2013 5:15 am

We can discuss to great lengths whether we like living in a galaxy where there is nothing but war.

Personally I wouldn't. Too grim.

You might as well have made your topic: "Do you like cookies?" No one in their right mind would want to live in the 40k universe! It's a terrible place of neverending war, where half the galaxy is going to kill you, and the other half is going to offer your soul up to the gods of Chaos for all eternity. You're not even safe from the guys who are supposed to be protecting you! They'll outright kill you and everyone you care about just on the off-chance that there might be a stray demon lurking around on the planet you're on...if they don't forget to send your world its annual shipment of food due to a simple clerical error.

How's this for a life-plan?

Fighting for survival in an over-populated, violent, poisonous and radioactive hellhole - Birth to ten years old.

Gang member who kills for scraps, and whose only free time activity is watching tv when all the channels have preachers - eleven to fourteen years.

Cannon fodder in an unwinnable war 2000 light years from home - fifteen to sixteen years.

Unimaginable torment at the hands of an insane Daemon - sixteen years to (hopefully) the heat death of the universe (if you are really lucky and no souls left in the material means death for those of the immaterium who feed on them, but I wouldn't get your hopes up).

Hmm, maybe it's time to reinstall Dark Crusade?

Edit: ...Waitaminit, Chaos Baneblade!? I don't think i'm enough universes away from such a thing even now :cold:

It's a nice place to command an army of cannon-fodder but I wouldn't want to live there

Short answer: No
Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Seriously though, Warhammer 40k, as awesome as it is, is perhaps the single most unpleasant major sci-fi universe to live in.

Sure. However you are limited to a Shoota and a Speshul Shoota.

No. "Playing" and fantasizing about war can be fun, but there's nothing fun about actual war IMO.

If the player base is any indication, there aren't enough women.

Also, maybe if it wasn't 40k.

Needs to be all caps for a valid fix.

Besides, who wouldn't want to be a Space Marine?

Anyway, only way I'd consider it, is if I can be an Adeptus Mechanicus, or a Plague Marine.

DIE FOR THE EMPEROR OR DIE TRYING!

No. I would not want to live in the Warhammer 40k universe. I don't think any life would be happy in it, you just live another day....maybe.
