Would you pay $15 a month?

Post » Tue Aug 27, 2013 10:15 am

You have to pay $60 for the base game, then you get 30 free days. Normally I would but pay but with console players have to pay for online services then 15 bucks a month. If they don't charge a monthly fee they won't make all their money back but if they do charge they probably still won't make enough! But they really can't afford for this game to go free to play.

Consoles do not HAVE to pay the PSN+ or Gold membership fees to play ESO. Those are required to use PS/Xbox services.

For others, some would. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1471458-subscription-price-poll/

Unless I'm reading this wrong, where are you getting this information because to use PSN+ and Xbox Live, you have to pay for those services to play any game that has multiplayer. That includes ESO because it's an online game.

So unless Zenimax Online made some kind of deal with Sony and MS to allow online play with ESO without paying for PSN+/Xbox Live (which I seriously doubt) you will have to pay those services.

Read what was said; the fees are required for access to the ps/xbox services. You'll have to pay to access those services for any online game you play, whether or not you play eso. The fee for ESO is, base price, $14.99. I don't know what the normal psn/xbox fee is.

she did say in the video tho that they were looking into it for fairness so that the console users wont be charged more and that all people would be paying the same price.

I sure hope they do cause it does seem unfair to them guys on consoles and hopefully wont loose possible players over a 5 dollar difference

To play any game that is online hosted by Xbox or PSN. When you play COD or BF or something online you're connecting to a server that is utilizing the Live/PSN+ features and the money also goes to running those servers.

Where as with ESO you aren't using anything owned or operated by sony/M$. So there is no reason to use their service so no reason to pay for it.

On top of that, Maria Aliprando said this;

I do hope that they can work out an equitable settlement. I just didn't want anyone to see "we don't have to pay those fees for eso" and accidentally start rumors.

Do you think they'll change the payment by release? I've heard a majority of gamers are in an outrage. Companies usually see what they can get away with, like Microsoft with the rediculous policies of xboxone enough negative feedback made em change it. If the game is really fun I guess I don't mind a monthly fee...but do you think console gamers will pay? Piling on top of xbox live fees that can get expensive.

No. I can get 1000 hours and more for $60 if I buy a single player Elder Scrolls game. I would I play $60, plus an extra $15 a month for a game in a genre (MMOs) I'm not interested in?

I'll be buying one month, but that's it.

No. It's no negotiating with me. MMOs take up too much time and I can't justify burning money into a game each month. F2P, or no dice. I'll do a free trial just to try it but there's no promises I'll fork over the dough, even if I like it.

I saw that video earlier and responded about it. I doubt that they'll be able to wave the PSN/Xbox Live fee even if it bypasses PSN/Xbox Live servers. But, it would be nice if they could get it worked out with them to do such a thing.

As I've said many times before, yes, I am more than happy to pay the sub fee. The thing I'm iffy about is the 60$ base fee...I suppose it's only a projected cost at the moment, so I hope it is MUCH less than this. I think with open beta it may not even come in physical form at all, because if people already have the game installed, why buy the 60$ box? The open beta will most definitely be download only, so right now I'm thinking perhaps the install will be free. That's the best case scenario atm.

It is good that ZeniMax Online finally came out into the open on their payment model. At least that will bring some form of 'closure'.

Unfortunately, for me it means that I will not be playing this game. After SWTOR I promised myself never to pay a monthly fee for any game ever again, and I'm sticking to that as I keep my promises.

But for those of you who are going to play, I sincerely hope you will have a great experience. :)

you can rest assured that code will be changed and will require an update.

I do not know .. but since they have taken the time to look into it I can only guess that what will happen is zenimax in the interest of console players will simply lower the 15 dollar fee to $9.99. ofcourse like I said this is only a guess. I honestly don't know what will happen.
