Wow, so not many bugs, but this one is ANNOYING.

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:17 pm

So ii havent had nearly as any bugs as anyone on these forusm has had. But now I decided to join the vampires, and what happens? When I wear my thieves guild hood my character goes bald!!!! Not normal bald either, cuz that i could live with, but he gets a hulk hogan horse shoe baldness haircut! I really hope they fix this, cuz this seriously is making me want to restart my thief / assassin. Otherwise i am stuck with serana hounding me everywhere.

Ill probably end up just restarting, cuz this is pretttttttty annoying......and unfortunately i have no previous saves before i went to acquire serana, I cant even start some of my thieves guild quests with her at my side, cuz they tell me to get rid of my follower....and i cant

You know, you just need to bring her to her home and she leaves your side as a follower. You can then do the quest to remove your vampirism. Doing those 2 things should take you less than an hour, maybe 30 minutes tops if you use fast travel. Much easier than totally restarting. Restarting seems a little...over-reacted.

I discovered this same bug, but then I found out that I could stack the hood with a Shrouded Cowl (or the Nightingale hood) and enjoy both effects. Bad bug, nice glitch.

If your not on the 360, you can download a simple mod to fix the thieves guild hood bug.

You would think before they would release the game on console they would have 1 person test each race in the game wearing all the armor available in the game. Once they reach the vampire race they would see the bug and fix it.

Guess 11/11/11 was to good!

This is a known issue. If you don't want to appear bald, I would recommend using a different hood.

wow man.... you're from bethesda? You dare say that? "Change your hood its a known issue"?
If its a known issue what about correcting it? What about even testing your games before selling it? Have you seen the completly broken dawnguard release for figs? Man... youre getting paid for that...

It's a cause of the latest patch (1.6) and not Dawnguard. Ebony Shield, Blades Shield and both Thieves Guild hoods have graphical problems on vampire characters. Removing the item(s) fixes the problem. A vampire character wanting to use these sets are basically out of luck unless they want to appear bald.

I don't know why he posted that comment to be honest, stress?

Maybe my years of receiving amazing customer service from Blizzard Entertainment has spoiled me, but it feels like Bethesda doesn't care about their customers at all once the purchase has been made. They haven't even given their customers who play on the PC & PS3 a release date.

Skyrim is about 8 months old. Bugs that should have been fixed are still present. It took them 6 months to fix the Nirnroot save file bloat. I wouldn't expect a fix to the thieves guild hood anytime soon.

Most likely stating that its a known bug and that until its fixed, use a different hood.

Also the reason you character appears that way is the item model is most likely not set to be used on the vampire head mesh so the hood mesh doesn't load. The reason you head appears like hulk hogan is the fact that the game is still applying the hairline mesh that is based on the hair you have when a "hair" item is used.

It's a common small bug that can be fixed easily but Bethesda does have other bigger issues to attend to right now..

It's a bug that has been in the game since release. Should have been fixed by the first patch.

Calm down a bit. He quite obviously meant it as a temporary solution. The bug has been around since Vanilla and I'm certain that they're working on it, we gave it enough spotlight on the beta forums. Also, he's the community manager/admin, it isn't his job to fix bugs. If you had even tried doing a simple google search, you would have found out that the bug was around previous to Dawnguard. Don't get all high and mighty on him when it isn't even his job to fix bugs. I understand how your pixelated character in a virtual world being bald while wearing a specific hood can be life ruining, but there's no need to get all nasty.

Also, if you think restarting a new character will fix the bug, save yourself some time and don't, because it won't.

Also, if you take look at his two other recent posts:

We're aware of this issue and working on a title update that will resolve the issue. We'll let you know when we have more information.

Thanks for your patience

We're working with Microsoft to get something available as quickly as possible.

Yes, I know, but I think it's safe to say that they've been working on patching bugs since the beta, and if they release a title update it will most definitely include more than just that. Perhaps the hood glitch is not the main priority, regardless, I think it's a bit ridiculous that people are getting angry at Gstaff for no reason.

The vanilla game has a similar bug with the ancient shrowded cowl if you're a Khajit or Argonian.
That has not been fixed to date either

They'll just roll back the DLC and release the new version for FIGS. No need to patch it. Also, I was told they can't patch DLC content.

I don't see why not. Also, the bug described in this thread isn't even DLC related.
