Xbox 360 - Network Performance

Post » Sun Oct 05, 2008 7:30 pm

Did it take longer than 30s to find a game? - Only after I get kicked out of a game due to host migration or after game is over and restart matchmaking ... this happens sometimes
- Are you on wired or wireless? Old Xbox 360 Pro with Wireless N card connected to Wireless N router at 300 mbps 40 Mhz link, most likely its running 150 at peak performance
- Have you specified your correct locale (region) in your console settings? - Yep, US
- What was the ratio of red bar to orange bar to green bar players in the match? - 60 to 70 % games are 3 three yellow, 10 % - 4 bars host, remaining consist of 2 bars or 1 bar (rare for me apparently)
- Did you get into the first game without any issues? - the game I played was fine ... pretty impressed actually, I thought Crysis 2 was really fixed up but instead later came network lag and issues

Played some games tonight
When the very first game is loading the game hard locks my 360 and I have to reboot

Every subsequent game the host team won every game. The host had 4 green bars and EVERYONE ELSE ON HIS TEAM HAS ON 1 or 2 bar connections!!!!!!

My team had 5 players with 3 bars an 1 with 2 bars and were getting BADLY beaten 50 - 15???????????

wired connection
region settings are correct

I am from New Zealand. I am always 1 bar, red or orange and only very very rarely 2 bars orange or 3 green if there is an Australian host. (Very very rarely if by a fluke I get host it is only for 1 game.)

Yesterday our local time I had several multi player games at 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, all red bars. But when I was on again after midnight I could not even get a single game. I searched in every game type including the new map packs but no luck. Why can I not find any multi-player games?

No - matchmaking is much faster now, almost instant; however, sometimes they start off with 3 vs 3 but rarely
- Are you on wired or wireless?
wireless
- Have you specified your correct locale (region) in your console settings?*
yes
- What was the ratio of red bar to orange bar to green bar players in the match?
varies, people are mostly orange with a mix of 2 - 3 red and/or greens but a few games are mostly red and orange
- Did you get into the first game without any issues?
yes, 95% of the time

I've only played team deathmatch so I don't know about the other modes.

PLEASE fix grain glitch ASAP....and sound while the match loads.

I'm from Toronto, Canada.

Didn't note down all those information but I tried playing last night and I must say that things have improved. Im from New Zealand so I am always playing with 1 bar (occasionally 2). But last night I actually got into games with some Ausies or other NZ'ers and was getting 2/3 bars. I even got host for the first time last night. Though it takes quite a while to find a game (1-2mins atleast) which is probably due to the fewer number of aus/NZ players. Keep it up crytek. Though a patch to choose locale games would be great.

Day 2:

Last night, my experience along with my squad was not good at the start. Rubber banding players etc while the host was from Florida/Texas and I am Northeast. So we left and found new lobbies which were alot better. Very few single bar players and matches found quickly, but still joined some games mid match/match starts with 3v3. Also, unlike the previous night of 50%, I only got host about 20% of the time.

Ok i tried it out a lil bit last night. Getting in a game was perty much instant, say about 10 seconds or less most the time. The host migration was alot better, and worked everytime except once. I ended up in a game all by myself, so i just sit there till the time ran out as i had already had a good number of kills to start out.

Most everyone had at least 2 bars, with a few ranging up and down in between 2-4 bars. There was a guy on last night raising cain over the kill cam being very laggy and it took a long time for him to respawn, but i didnt experience the issue in the same game?? Before i always had 4 bars but real time slower reactions as seen in the kill cams. Now the real time is better and i feel that the enemy didnt have a half second advantage as usual. It works better on 2-4 bars and thats kinda weird.

Overall i would say the play has gotten alot better and not nearly a pain to find and finish a game. Also some of the graphical problems i had before was no longer happening after the usual 1 or 2 games, so not sure how this fix effected that, but it did.

I have a wired connection, DOCSIS 2.0 and region is specified. Connection or lag was rarely ever a problem for me for this game or any game really except for peak periods of global play, where i would then experience a bit. It has only been a matter of the bugs making the game go haywire and graphical breakdowns in this crysis 2.

- Did it take longer than 30s to find a game? (please try and be accurate with this)
Yes, about 50 seconds.
- Are you on wired or wireless?
Wireless N adapter
- Have you specified your correct locale (region) in your console settings?
Yes (US)
- What was the ratio of red bar to orange bar to green bar players in the match?
There were mostly light greens and yellows, nothing below that in the first match. However, that still didn't fix the lag and the hit detection problems were still present- in one case, an opposing player passed by me and shot were I was and killed me.
- Did you get into the first game without any issues?
Yes.

Yesterday & the day before was really bad for me, but since yesterday evening every game had 3 to full bars with everyone also settling on 3.

TIA & IA is exactly that. Instant
CS was becoming hard to find a game but has picked up this evening and so has CTR.

If it keeps up like this i'm sure you'll get people back.

Crysis 2 uses the same ports as general Live services. Just Google "360 Live Port Forwarding" you will find tons of information.

That being said, Crysis 2 is heavy on network connections, so do expect to not get 4 bar unless you are host, most sit between 2-3 bars.

Online is so much better but when it migrates a new host I get dropped from the game like 50% percent of the time.

Yep host is always full green bars. For me some modes take longer to find games, mainly DLC maps too.

It would be nice if they were able to tell you the player population of each of the game modes. That would give us a better idea of how long the game search will take and the possibility of a poorer experience due to smaller player populations in the various modes.

Overall so far, whatever tweaks they've done recently has made the game play worse for me, NOT better.

For a while (last three days) the MP was a lot better, quicker and more responsive.
Today I faced lag as I have rarely encountered it yet, to the point were it took half a second for any action to be performed after the button press. It was a game of chance whether I would reload or not, melee attacks never even happened, only 1 out of 10 shots on target actually registered, and people just weren't where my screen showed them to be. Running was unresponsive to say the least, the whole thing felt like... well, crap. The worst I've had so far, playing with much the same people I played with yesterday and the days before.
And most, if not all of the times, all that stuff happened with three green bars, on different hosts, different maps and at least five consecutive games. Maybe it's the many people online for double XP... but wait, wouldn't that only be true for dedicated servers?

How come every other game manages to get lag-free games with people all around the world? COD does, Halo does, Battlefield does, Red Dead does, Borderlands does, but somehow we're having a friggin' Crysis as soon as I'm not playing with that dude from down the street who smells funny.

Anyways...
With my Freeze Ray I will stop the world....
With my Freeze Ray I will find the time to find the words to...
Tell you how... How you make... Make me feel... What's the phrase?...
Like a fool... Kinda sick... Special needs... Anyways...
With my Freeze Ray I will stop the Pain...
