Why, you ask? Because "[We] want to be more involved with the storytelling, so technology at this point will enable [us] to engage even more so."

:D lol No, guys and gals. We just want to play games. :stare:

Don't think for one second, folks, that if you plug in that Kinect you, your home, and your guests won't be being digitally watched, logged, and anolyzed.

Yeah, the common man doesn't need to worry about NSA or other government agencies spying them, it's the corporations you need to watch out for :stare:

Positively thinking though, they're only interested in your money :hehe:

An ad is an ad. You put an ad on the screen, no matter how interactive it is, it is never the reason why I'm interacting with that screen; it's just getting in the way.

If you need to advertise your product that hard, chances are your product isn't worth it for me to buy. The Don Draqer's of the world hate guys like me.

Often thought this about adverts. If a product was good, it'd speak for itself and word would spread.

hahaha, that is terrible. Pay $500 in order to watch commercials, They've lost touch completely. I specificly don't have cable or satilite TV because i refuse to pay money to watch commercials. If I have paid money for the right to view something, then by god's teeth I'd better not have any interruptions while I am viewing.

Indeed. I think it's incredibly silly how much attention Microsoft is putting into ads that nobody cares about. I remember when I used to use the Xbox 360 to, you know, play games. Oh wait, I still do that because that's all I use it for.

Did they say exactly how it would work? Because to be honest that's not really the vibe I got from it. But then again, of course they would implement it so use of the Knect would required, considering what a raging stiffy Microsoft has for that stuff.

I have a thought. Maybe watching ads... is actually the future of video games, and our minds just can't comprehend how amazing it would be yet.

I had the opportunity back in September to head over to Microsoft's Toronto Head quarters and talk with the folks there about how I as an Ad guy (former Art Director... quit on Friday) can use their technology in ideas I might have in the future.

What I learned from them is that they're planning to use small bits of technology to figure out if you're watching their ads. (So yes, think of it like the TV that is watching you) This is more to provide a solid basis on how well advertisemants track. Why I think this is great is because I feel like it will be the first time a company delivers solid evidence that nobody cares about ads. This will force companies (and game companies in particular) to find better ways (and platforms) to integrate their brand/product into.

As far as taking advantage of movement and voice recognition to serve up content (like your internet cookies), Microsoft had no current plans to do that. They did say, should they do it in the future, the user would be prompted with the choice.

It doesn't matter what Microsoft says, if the NSA wants it to work that way, it's working that way. Remember, they don't need any legal warrants or even grounds on which to tell Microsoft to do something (and Microsoft will happily oblige). Same goes for Google and Yahoo and Apple. It's quite something, how close we've come to 1984.
