Took the words right out of my mouth.
And what is a game about friggen assassination that tells you you're bad for assassinating people? Isn't that the whole point? Motivate the player to assassinate characters, build up their assassination, and then. You know what then? Instead of "non-lethal" assassinations they should have given you points, points for style on how you killed them. Like, give the player the option to hang the friggen High Overseer from the window out in front of the courtyard for all to see. That's style, that's what I wanted to do.
I'm sure 99% of the people on here are huge fans, and so are self congratulatory in their praise. But I've the notion, and small samples of evidence, that this is an accurate assessment of how many feel about the game. People that bought it, played it, but aren't here. A lot of potential that didn't hit the right notes at the right times.
The game leads, Harvey Smith, Ricardo Bare, et. al. Next time, figure out what your game is ABOUT. What is it you are motivating players to do, and then make sure everything is centered around making that as awesome as possible. Don't decide, halfway through, that there's an entirely different way to play your game, and that suddenly have to try and support that too even though none of your game is designed for that.
