Ive got no idea where to mine it, i can tell you though that as your lvl increases the vendor will start selling more and more and eventually the refined bars :)

I think they'll sell it when you gain more levels...

But if you can't wait, go up as far north as you can along the coast to the west of Dawnstar... you'll find a stranded ship there with a good amount of ores in it... not loads but it is a reasonable amount...

It can be hard to come by but stores occasionally have it in stock, I usually craft in whiterun and get supplies there, but it can be done in any town.

Talk to blacksmiths and general stores, usually they have ore or ingots. There are 4 possible people to buy from in whiterun. The blacksmith at the entrance to town, the guy in her shop, the general store which is on the right of the market area next to the potion place, and the blacksmith at the big forge.

Just check them out a lot, you can try any town as well, same basic type of people keep similar things in stock, they have different things at different times, and I'm not sure how often they change their products around, and restock, maybe once a day I'm guessing.

I sometimes come across veins but I haven't found the correct veins for those. I have decked myself out in glass now.

Selling charged soul gems or enchant weapons with it before selling, mining ore and make metal bars, then sell, wood chopping, loot alot and sell, look in every barrel, urn, body for gold. and when you reach lvl 25+ its more easy to earn money.

Try mining your own stuff from mines instead of buying it if you're having financial issues. You operate at a loss by purchasing materials and crafting. So your income is solely from adventuring you do (looting/selling).

Ok not 100 percent sure but try kynesgrove mine. I think you can mine it there and there is a smelter out front.

Just collect everything that has a 10gold to 1weight value; sell it off to merchants, collect ingredients and make strong potions and sell those (i usually get 300 gold per potion at level 20)

and yes, open EVERY [censored] URN. right now a tlvl 20 i have 20,000 gold or around there just from selling and opening crap.

Spoiler
Kynesgrove, the mine there (a Malachite mine) has quite a few nodes. It's a destination of an offshoot quest of the main quest, but you can just go there I imagine. It's, uhh...kinda near the place you have to go to get the sap to cure the tree in Whiterun...that general area. The big plain with the hotsprings and Atronach Stone.

I find the best money maker to be Alteration magic "transmute" it let you the very cheap iron ore to be silver ore, and silver ore to gold ore... along with the gems that you find during your adventure you can make expensive jewelries. Of course there's a catch... most gems that you'll find out there work mostly with silver and since transmute will change any silver ore in your inventory to gold, you have to manually discard silver ores that you just transmuted... then once you're done transmuting all your iron ores just pick those scattered silver ores and smelt them to bars... such a hassle and I wish there's a better way to do it, but it does give you some pretty pennies...
