Years of console experience???

Post » Fri Jul 02, 2010 9:09 pm

Ok so every interview I see with this guy Hasit Zala he keeps saying that the timesplitters guys (who are working on cry2 multiplayer) have years of console experience.... thats fine and dandy for console players but what about pc gamers?

That would at least explain the narrow minded decision for only 6 vs 6 on all platforms. Because they cant bring exclusive Pc features... noo
That would be the end of the world if Pc Players would get more than consoleros for buying a expensive high end pc.

To the console people, yes, they don't go as far into thinking about that stuff...

I doubt Crytek germany is much envolved into Crysis 2 MP, as the organisational effort is immense and not worth it.

No developer is under any compulsion to reward us for having good PCs. Good graphics is the only perk we're guaranteed over a console.

That, and free updates from Valve :3

I just don't see why they wouldn't allow us (pc gamers) to have stuff like larger games simply because PC's can handle it. It's hardly like they're excluding consoles from multiplayer, but why limit the game on pc simply because of the limitations of consoles.

They haven't said they won't let us do what we want on Dedicated servers, assuming we get them. What they're DOING is developing MP around a specific size that will work well on all release platforms, and not pouring extra man-hours into the portion of the market from which they constantly receive threats of not buying (Lots of my fellow PC gamers here DO keep trying to make that threat sound real).

Developing around a single, smaller game size allows for everything at initial release to work well together, all maps, all game modes, all without having a game with too few players for the map.

Honestly, until we get more information, panic about what we're assuming we do or don't get is baseless. Remember, judging by sales statistics for recent games, the PC corner of the market is also going to bring them less income than PS3 or 360. Spending extra money on exclusive PC features then becomes a poor business decision that could cost them some console buyers who would then feel they got a cut-rate port.

console experience could mean allot of things. I hope in this case it means console experience building games, not only playing them !

No offense to PC gamers and I dont want to start a fight but I have to say you guys know how to B&#$% (sorry I had to say it) im going to list a few things that you guys have/had over console gamers right of the top of my head

1: You had maybe the best PC FPS (Crysis) shooter exclusive to you
2: The quality of your system can be 2 or 3 times better than the consoles (even if it costs some cash to upgrade)
3: Editing systems and modding (sandbox with crysis, even if it may not be in crysis 2 (we dont know)) face it the PC gaming community blows any console out of the water when It comes Map creation/editing
4: Keyboard and mouse (need I explain)

There are more I could list but I would have to think about it probably, and yes I know Crytek is focusing more on the consoles and you are mad cuz u feel betrayed, but they have access to two new communities that are big money making areas, and to capitalize they are focusing on us to draw us into the game. I guaranty you that they are not going to forget about you all.

Coming from a PC gamer, I'd like to point a few things out.
First, the ones whining are a vocal minority, as much as they would like you to think otherwise. Seeing as most PC gamers will speak up when they feel truly slighted, you should watch the blanket statement that should actually only be directed at a few.

Second. If you actually see all the benefits to PC gaming and don't understand why some people would be concerned about a PC exclusive sequel going to consoles you don't have a clue. Also, consoles existed when Crysis 1 was released. While I trust Crytek, a lot of recent titles HAVE been bad ports, so people are nervous.

And again, vocal minority, plenty of us are content to wait and see, and expect not to hate it. The ones against it are mostly the ones who like a server modded so heavily the game is unrecognizable anyway, and wouldn't know how to play any MP game without exploits/camping.

The server should be able to be modded to allow more players into a single server.

I just want 8on8, to make the experience a little bit more intense. Right now the 6on6 is looking a little slow for my liking. 8on8 i can deal with.

@JingleHell Thanx for the clarification, and yes I may have been a little extreme by judging all PC gamers by seeing the comments on these forums, but you cant blame me for when I join this thread and its all filled with people complaining

@JingleHell and Talon95
thanx for answering my second question about the 6v6 debate. I can see where you are coming from saying that larger games are more intense for sure. I should have also asked why people are blaming consoles for this also, I have seen plenty of games that support more than 6 people in multiplayer. But I think when some PC gamers see things they dont want they are using us Console gamers as a scape goat of sorts because we are new :(

Scapegoat, especially taken together with bad ports from console, yes.

But that mostly stems from not trusting a good developer to stay good.

I do understand why PC gamers are worried for the quality of the game being dumbed down to run on the consoles and they will try to make the game work for all systems will cause it to possibly not be as good than the first (or something along those lines) But they have said that it will optimize all systems (Im not sure if thats true or not I might be miss-remembering) but I think It will be a good game on all systems and we dont need to worry. About what you said with the port from consoles do you know if it being ported from the consoles or what?

No, its being simultaneously developed for all three. A port would be a later release without much of a change. It won't be an issue as long as they develop as a PC game with the lower settings conveniently lining up with console hardware.

ok that makes better sense, because I had been seeing threads about the game ported from console to PC and it didn't make sense to do that. Like I said in my last post the quality from what I have heard is optimized on all systems ( Like I said before also dont hold me to this) But I think the Consoles will have their graphics set at a specific level to run at, but I think the PC will have the ability to run at a high grade with the same/similar specs using the quality settings. This is just my theory and I thought I had heard that they are getting better performance from a more basic engine or something along those lines (I cant remember if this a fact or not)

i agree with you talon when i watched one game mode to me it was going fast enough actually just fast, but the other game mode was pretty slow and they should raise the cap for that and it would be awesome for the other map to.
