I wanted to buy a dog for 500 gold, but he keeps saying you already have an animal. I have no animal, and no quests stating such things. What can I do to fix this or am I just out of luck. Very frustrating cause I wanted a dog and now I can not have one.

Have you done any quests involving dogs?

Like maybe started a quest where a "Dog" may be waiting for you somewhere and forgotten about it.

I would check and see if Clavicus Vile's quest is in your log book.

No nothing like that. I do remember a while back i ran into a stray dog tried to get him to join me but would not join or follow me. Wonder if somthing is up with that. Problem is I have no idea where that was...lol to back and see if he is still where I saw him. somewhere close to riverwood is all I remember.

I think there is a dog called Meeko or whatever, somewhere (lol not helpful at all, sorry) and he can be a follower. I got him, he followed me and Mjoll, but than I told him to scram and he is still waiting for me at his shack. Maybe the "stray" dog you found was him, but you never told him to go home and he might be stuck somewhere?

It was probably outside falkreath(iirc)? That would be the C Vile quest starter if my guess is correct.

There should be some message about helping a blacksmith find his dog.

The dogs are annoying anyway , all they do is bark every 1o seconds .
