I love riding the horse.

I hate having to dismount to interact with anything. Even worse in the middle of combat with a wild cat or bear charging at me.

I also hate that they charge into battle. I had my horse run up into the Valtheim towers, up ramps and stairs to kill bandits. It was [censored].

I hate the very low quality textures on them.

So I do use them, but to get to point A to B on the roads. I'll often park them in a village and go on foot from there.

Nope. I just walk everywhere, it's better for exploring. Plus, I don't want the hassle of dismounting each time I need to fight something, pick something up, etc.

I'll use a horse when we get horse combat.

I just bought my first horse for a quest that was too far to walk and had no fast travel locations nearby
just the basic horse at whiterun but i'm not really digging it
it can sprint for like 60 seconds before tiring and going back to normal walking speed
don't think I'm gaining that much from using it, can sprint that long myself

The only time I use them is when I kill there owner in stealth them just steal them ride to where ever then let them run off. I don't think I will be buying one for myself untill I have so much money I dont know what else to do with it.

Just out of curiousity when you are done using your horse, say you were riding home to whiterun where do you park your ride?

First horse I used, attacked a dragon and either died or randomly vanished by the time I killed the dragon, second horse I got ran off never to be seen again when i was near a bandit camp, so I just run everywhere now in fear of wasting another 1000 gold, lol.

I like my horse. The controls and movement is fairly fluid to me, better than the vast majority of games. The price isn't too steep, and it has a lot of use.

Shadow Of The Colossus has the best horse control and animation i have ever seen in a game, haven't come across one that beats that yet, give it a try! I don't use my horse a lot since it is now dead. (Killed by a Sabercat :violin:) But even when he was alive i found it a nuisance to get off him and draw my weapon in random encounters, not to mention that when galloping he seemed to move slower than i do when sprinting and definitley for a shorter period than me. All in all there is basically no point in having him around. I mean on the loading screens you get the fact pop up about how: "The horses of Skyrim make up for what they lack in speed, with endurance" And they do make decent companions when they attack, but seeing as there is no option to have them just follow you around that fact doesn't fill me with too much joy.

Plus mine got one-shotted by a damn Sabercat.

I use it all the time. if your horse dies, load your last autosave and save 1000 gold... or manually save more often.
I would like a mod to enable talking to people while mounted, or even the ability to cast spells...

the horse being aggresive is a bit of a problem, but they have a lot of HP.

I couldn't be bothered to load an earlier save seeing as i found having a horse pretty useless. Having said that though, i do plan to buy one from another city hahaha.

You've got to find the right horse for the job.

Some horses will run away from any fight. Some will jump in to every fight. Some will sit there calmly and wait. Some have more stamina and can gallop a lot longer. And there's some that have the ability to climb some incredibly steep mountainous terrain that you can't climb on foot.

I'd love to use a horse but I just hate it when they are killed so I walk. If I can make them immortal in the Creation Kit or someone makes a mod, I'll try using one. I'm also happy walking though because I see more of the world.

Horses rule, Too bad they tend to die by falling all the time. They are excellent climbers, you can climb all the mountains with ease and save time.

I'd like that in one horse to be honest. Seeing as i don't own a stable.

One of the first things I did when I got some coin was buy a horse. But I've found it very clumsy to operate, it's 'slow', barely going a little faster than I can run. I've gotten to the point where I just go on foot everywhere now.

I did buy a horse but got pissed off when I kept losing it. I imagine I'd use a horse if I was to immerse myself more in the actual roleplaying of the game. But for practicality, I don't use one

I no longer pay for my horses, and this is why.

First horse - Mauled by a saber tooth cat
Second Horse- Mauled by three saber tooth cats
at this point I just started stealing them
Third Horse - Mauled by a bear
Fourth Horse - Attacked about 6 forsworn, then disappeared. Haven't seen it since.

So now I just fast travel and walk to where I need to go, until I finish the Dark Brotherhood quest line and get my prize ;)

shadowmere was the only horse i used, mainly cause its the only thing that ive seen able to take on a dragon and not die within 3 hits. Ive let it kill 2 so far without intervening

Other than my horses aggressive disposition, I typically find the horse pretty valuable. Since i'm a loot wh0re, and tend pick up almost everything to sell, I'm usually over-encumbered after I leave every cave/dungeon, etc... Since I can't fast travel on foot while over-encumbered, I just jump on the horse and then fast travel to my desired location and sell my loot.
