If You Could Ressurect One Musician Who Would It Be?

Post » Wed Jun 27, 2012 12:28 pm

As per the title.

The exact location of Mozart's grave is unkown so they have a monument and a "grave" that represtents their best guess as to where he might actually lie.

A little cherub is carved next to the headstone, his hand on his head, looking down with an experession of shock and sadness that so perfectly captures the sentiment of tragic loss when a musical genius is taken from us.

If you could bring one musician back from the grave...

Who would it be?

I would say Tupac, but he's still alive. :P

I wouldn't bring back any actually. What are the rules for bringing them back? Are they alive for a long time or a short time?

Chopin. With reference to his Fantasia Impromptu (opus 66) I would really like to know if Allegro Agitato means 'as fast as humanly possible'.

I'd give you three guesses, but you'd likely only need one. :hehe:

For me, this is the equivalent of a Freddie Mercury vs Tupac Shakur thread, because I honestly can't decide.

Toss-up between Danny Kaye (okay, not a musician, but still a great singing voice in his performances) and Louis Armstrong (my personal inspiration as a Trumpet player).

Good thing we still have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jm6ktYq0Yxk to keep my heart lightened when I think of these two.

EDIT: Freddie Mercury brings up an EXTREMELY close second place for me.

Ryu Umemoto.

I only learned he had passed away after hearing the excellent score he provided for Akai Katana.

Such a shame, way too young. Reminds me of Nujabes, who was a year younger even.

Someone fairly modern and experimental. Jimi Hendrix maybe.

If you resurrected any of the great composers, you'd have to keep them well away from the radio or dubstep, or they'd just die again of shame.

Kirsty MacColl. She can record a new version of Fairytale of New York where the female part isn't sung by Katie Melua. Shane MacGowan will still be blind drunk though.

Then she can be with her family whilst raising awareness of idiot rich kids on jet skis.

I love piper, but all in all I prefer post-syd floyd. I think DSOTM was the best stuff they've done, piper was a bit too psychedelic for my taste.

On topic: Frank Zappa

Probably Ian Curits for more post-punk goodness, though I have the strange feeling that they would go in New Order's direction regardless of Ian's presence. Don't really know any other artist I would revive, they either played well past their prime and bringing them back wouldn't make them any better (or younger), or they left the band that I enjoyed them in for something else and bringing them back wouldn't change their mind.

Too many to pick from.

Off the top of my head:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMfwxWA14zo and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3M8J1i-UwE both died far too young. An airplane crash and cancer are no ways to go.

Freddie Mercury? Frank Zappa? Rick Wright of Pink Floyd? I'm not sure many of us could think of just ONE we'd want to bring back to life...
