Do you ever get better armor or weapons?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 5:35 pm

it seems like the first weapon and armor I picked up in the first 5 hours are the best I will get, or is the armor and weapons based on how far you are into the main storyline?
My favorite part of RPGs is always going to a new town and upgrading armor and getting a better weapon but 20 hours into it it seem few and far between

If it's like Oblivion some armors/weapons just wont appear in the game until you reach a certain level.

But some of the faction/quest armor is pretty sweet

What exactly are you doing? I'm level 17 and swimming in Dwarven, Orcish, and Elven gear. Try raiding a few dungeons, or improve your Smithing Skill and improve your gear yourself.

Smithing helps you get access to better stuff sooner, but yes after a while enemies and loot will start to have better stuff, but not all of them as I have noticed it is mainly dungeon bosses.

At 16 hours (and level 9) I'm still wearing steel. I'm doing fine and I feel no need to rush. I know there's more armor and I'll find it soon enough.

I've been smithing to get the better armor. Also currently in the process of getting better items through The Companions quest line.

I'm about 20 or so hours into the game and I already have 2 really nice swords, 1 artifact hammer (Though I don't use it as it's 2 handed) 2 Really nice bow, and Steel Plate Armor which all of it is enchanted (except my boots) And then an enchatned Dwemer shield...Just do lots of sidequests! The main storyline doesn't get you that far in terms of good equipment.
Keep exploring them dungeons >:o

I've just reached the dragonboneplate armor level. It looks amazing. I've spent 28 hours to the game so far but I haven't seen any better armor than those. Also, I'm still using my Ebony Bow and Ebony Mace. No luck finding better equipment that suits my playstyle yet and no daedra souls, so...

Im level 21 and going for light armor. My armor is now a full glass set but I made it myself. The issue is, aside from a few bosses and other notible exceptions most of the enimies are still using iron. The dreagr are almost always always using the ancient iron weapons (which kinda makes sence).

That sounds refreshing. I mislike games that gave you powerful new equipment too often. I enjoy austere games where I'm stuck with the same basic stuff for quite a while.

I haven't played the game yet, awaiting my order still.

Once your smithing reaches 100, and you have some enchanted smithing stuff, upgrading your weapons/armor can reach more than 100% bonus.
A 'Legendary' upgraded steel sword is nearly as good as a daedric sword, and far cheaper to get.

I'm only level 6, but so far I've not found any upgrades except a helmet I stole from a blacksmith.

But I remember things picked up a lot in Oblivion after I hit lvl10.

For everyone saying smithing,

Where do you get materials? or even level up smithing so fast.

I'm only like 25 atm I think.
But I don't feel like wasting perks to make armor I can just find.

I'm an incredible thief and businessman (in that order), so my materials are entirely 'donated' nontaxable income.

As far as how to level up smithing fast, I did a whole lot of paying people to increase my skill +5 each level and making/upgrading the most saleable items for more materials/to pay for trainers.

I get the perks for the upgrade boosts, not the ability to make items (enchanters may feel different).

can't see why peopel are a levelign so slow hell I hit 40 today. Well had the game a tad earlier but.

You can buy better armor based on PERK levels. Such as at master level you will get better armor from certain NPC's, like the better mage armor with 100%+ regen and other effects, some 200% plus.

Some items come off hidden mobs in dungeons. At higher levels, they can be looted. THere is a medium Armor for mages I came across that deflects attacks. (gauntlets) and works even if dual whelding spells.

If you use smithing, then it will be difficult to find better stuff since you drastically improve what you have. Case in point I haven't found any Dwemer armour, yet I've already finished crafting and improving Dwemer, Orcish, and now Ebony at level 22. Heck, even the Skyforged Steel Sword I'm using is the best (especially with my shout to increase my attack speed).
