Do you get the benefits of a perk-changing mod if you alread

I just installed the Bound Weapon Redux mod so that I can more effectively use my Bound Sword. In addition to adding some new bound items, it changes the perks Mystic Binding, Soul Stealer, and Oblivion Binding. However, I already had Mystic Binding, and I noticed after the mod was installed that the text for "Mystic Binding" is gray, just like the text of a perk that you haven't taken yet. I took Soul Stealer and Oblivion Binding after I installed the mod and their text is white, just like all the other perks that I have.

Does this mean there is a problem with Mystic Binding? Like maybe I no longer have its effects, even though I officially "have" the perk and cannot choose it again?

In case no one is familiar with this paritcular mod, generally speaking is it a problem to already have perks and then install a mod that changes those perks? Or should they just work like normal? If the latter, why is it grayed out for me?

Thanks!

Edit: Just as I posted this, I realized something. I also have the mod No Perk Prerequisites installed, which doesn't require you to have previous perks to take later ones. In this particular case, Novice Conjuration is no longer a prereq for Mystic Binding, and in fact I did not take Novice Conjuration. Perhaps the text has been grayed out because according to the new mod (Bound Weapon Redux), I need to have the prereq (Novice Conjuration) in order to have Mystic Binding. I did notice that Oblivion Binding was also grayed out until I took Soul Stealer, although this wasn't the case *before* I installed the new mod.

Anyway, having said all that, does this mean that I no longer have Mystic Binding since I don't have the prereq? I suppose I could put a point in Novice Conjuration and then see if the Mystic Binding text lights up again.

It depends on how the perks are added/changed by the mod. The most likely case is that you still do have the old Mystic Binding, but it is replaced in the perk tree by a different perk with the same name, the one added by the mod. You can try looking up the Perk FormID on UESP and using "player.removeperk" to remove the old perk.

If this is the case, does that mean I only have the effects of the vanilla perk, and not the modded perk?

Edit: I should note that after taking Novice Conjuration, Mystic Binding is now displayed as white text, like all the others. Would this mean I have the modded version?
