If You're Going to Add Mountains....

Post » Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:42 am

....for god sake let us climb these mountains.

I am so sick and tired of this 3D map, I do not know where any roads or pathways are.

So I forgive going a shortcut is fine, but the game doesn't.

It's the same thing with Oblivion, it's so darn flippin hard to get up a mountain. The worse thing is Skyrim is a game about mountains and rocks. You'd think we'd have more options of climbing them, but no.

Sorry a bit of a vent from frustration.

Horse

Horse beats physics.

It does. And takes a lot of time too. I have to go side to side, then forward to see if it will let me go up one, then side to side, forward, side to side, forward. -.-

Meh, I enjoy scaling mountains, but now I just go up from the foot of the mountain and follow the path up.

Well it wouldnt be a mountain if you could waltz up it from any angle would it? I get the frustration, ive done the exact same thing many times and have had to execute a "go around" to find a clear path up or one that I can cliffwalk up. But at the end of the day, thats terrain for you.

Not all the paths should be this difficult to climb up though. Especially, since I have hiked before and climbed before. Some of the paths, they don't look like you could waltz up there, but you can certainly not even have to climb much. A lot of bended knees, sometimes a little bit of grabbing, but you get on. Not having my Skyrim character sit there and feel like he's walking for 10 mins being blocked by a brick wall.

Not to be a git, but I live in a mountainous region and done a few mountain walks in my time. Unless its a clearly defined and marked path, then yes its bloody murder to get up a mountain. Its just the game reflecting the fact that a mountain peak is a bit of a geographical bugger to get to.

There are two floating boxes that can be bought in Whiterun. The chances of seeing them are very rare though.

I understand this. That's what I mean though. But it doesn't mean you're being blocked by a brick wall either.

Same, I actually got quite good at climbing really steep slopes.

Spoiler
(I actually was able to get to the top of the Frozen Waterfall in Forgotten Vale, only to realize there was a portal to get up there.)
