How are they slowed down? They're about to have released three DLCs in half a year. :bonk:

If it is it's their own fault. I'm still waiting on a patch to fix a lot of base game issues... can't even imagine the wait on PS3

I would assume there are specific developer teams working on each project.
So no, I don't really think they are "slowed down".
By what standards are we talking?
Of course, if they would spent their entire staff and all the money on Skyrim DLCs the progress would speed up, but hey... that's not realistic anyways.

Yeah that makes sense.

I doubt it. A team in Bethesda has probably been working on Fallout 4 concepts etc for a while separately. I expect this dlc had a whole team working on it separate to those that for example were working on Hearthfire.

edit I really should read through the previous posts more. I've just reiterated what has already been said.

Definitely teams... jumping from project to project is horribly inefficient from a coding perspective. Some coders are better at it than others, but overall, you're far more efficient, inventive, innovative, etc., when you can focus.

Quite a few people who work on FONV worked on Skyrim according to the credits.. Doesn't really mean anything though, other than that they worked on both projects.
Progress takes as long as it takes.

Beth likey has different teams/ staff for each games, perhaps even in different offices like bioware does with Dragon age and Mass effect. The staff (if any) they share (wirters maybe?) have liky finished with DLC plot/wirting and such long before tech people come in and make..

Although the main reason it's slowed down is cause they are trying to get it to work on PS3. it would be an PR breakdown and cost them more PS3 sales than they aready lost if they released the others and not have PS3 fixed.

I think they have started wirting it and maybe doing some concept drawing and such but it's still in early days.

Speaking of Fallout 4, do you guys think it's going to be on next gen consoles? I really hopes so because maybe Bethesda will learn how to code on the PS4, and plus, consoles wouldn't hold them back as much as before.

Next Gen are likey if not 100% gauarateed to be released by christmas next year so unless they are making games this year (unlikey) then yes it will porbably be on next gen..

As for learning the code, well lets hope Beth learns their lession from the PS3 and doesn't decide to just copy and paste the xbox code again...

Bethesda has clearly stated in the past that they didnt just buy the fallout series to make one game and walk away. Another thing that points to fallout is that this generation of consoles is coming to a end and I extremely doubt BGS will try to squeeze in another TES this generation when they know that they can use the new console specs in the near future. They started this gen with an elder scrolls game and I believe that they will start the next gen the same way. So fallout (or anything they do next) will most likely be the last game for BGS this current gen. With the success of Skyrim Im thinking that there next game will be better than any of there last games because they will most likely have a lot more resources and money to spend.

I disagree I think they might have started it immediately after they finished developing skyrim, this has been their method in the past and seems to work. I've noticed that their pattern is 2 years for fallout 3 years for TES after there last release. So if this is true then we can most likely expect F4 next year, but who knows they might have made enough money with skyrim to add another year to its development.

Make lite sense to release it months before next generation. Will hurt sales and dlc a lot.

As I understand next gen will be very similar. powerpc or x86 cpu, gpu, blueray, hd eiter standard or an small ssd.
Nothing is known about memory, my guess would be 4gb Interesting to see how the allocation is 2/2 would be restricting and you might end up with memory problems like skyrim on ps3

Hopefully, Bethesda is letting Obsidian do most of Fallout 4.

I hope for this as well, assuming there is better QA this time.

I think Obsidian is going to be too busy with some other stuff to work on another Fallout game.

This about sums it up for me also. I find it hard to believe that game after game are being released while base issues are not yet patched in a big title such as Skyrim. I fail to understand this logic of a company.

The PS3 svcks and is a nightmare to develop for. Plain and simple. I know that probably sounds really devoted fan-ish, but it isn't meant to be. I play on an xbox, but would prefer to play on PC. I have no love for either platform as I can't stand Microsoft - I just want to be able to use mods. That said, the PS3 svcks and is a nightmare to develop for. It is a needlessly complicated horror of an idea.

Except, it's not just the PS3 that has a bunch of quests bugs that need to be fixed. I mean I knew the PS3 was going to get the short end of the stick from Beth by just looking at their history with the console, but there is no excuse to not fix known issues that have been there from the start.

Even if the PS3 is more challenging to develop games on it's no excuse for how screwed up the PS3 version of Skyrim is for some people.
