If you had been in Charge of Deciding TESO's Factions, how w

TESO's factions are common knowledge by now; Daggerfall Covenant, (Orcs, Bretons, Redguards) Ebonheart Pact, (Nords, Argonians, Dunmer) and Aldmeri Dominion (Altmer, Bosmer, Khajiit).

These alliances have been questioned many times in the past by fans of TES. I, too, see a couple of them as being somewhat unlikely... So I thought I would put it to the board and see what others might have chosen for the series if given the option.

TL:DR/Basic point of the thread: If you made TESO's factions, what races would you include in each? How many factions would you have altogether? What are your reasons behind these choices?

The only selections that I, as the TC, do not endorse are the following:

- No factions. There are other threads for debating about the very idea of factions in TESO. In this thread, they are assumed.

Otherwise factions of any size or racial configuration are allowed.

Argonians vs. everybody else.

No seriously, if you have to have factions, I'd gone the same way.

I think, given the geographical location, you couldn't have really split them up any other way (except maybe, for example swap your allied province on your left, and have your allied province the one on the right, if you get me)

I mean, you couldn't have the orcs who are pretty much right at the north west of tamriel, in bed with Eleswyr..

This is just a stealth faction lock thread and if you think this will not descend into a blatant faction lock argument then you are mistaking. Just the title of your thread tells you all youy need to know about how this thread Will end up.

You want to talk factions then post in this thread, you could of put this post into this thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1438604-locked-territory/

The Orcs would probably be one of the easier races to shift around, since before TESO the lore stated that they were basically nomads and vagabonds during the time of the interregnum.

Would've made more sense imo to keep the nords with the other men races, but I suppose geographically the way they split them was really the best you could do.

Personally, I'd have sent a search party out consisting of 4 dagger wielding wood elves, 2 badass sword swinging Imperials, 1 wise old Breton and 1 master high elf archer on a long and dangerous quest to find the Dwemer and say screw factions and then have a giant free for all in Cyrodil with the last man standing getting to rule over all of the corpses.

(I'll seriously give a long and detailed response in the morning, assuming this hasn't turned into a faction locking thread by then of course )

i would of divided as it is, but i would of made,

1) mercenary option for every race/class to fit in any faction you choose to play (you need to select a side as with the other races also).
2) make the mercenary class available after when you have one character at level 30.
3) make a lot of restrictions to the mercenary class and a lot of stuff that you need to do and improve to be able to keep that mercenary spot in that one faction.

lets say it would be hard to make it work, so it would be only for those who really have an obsession for it.

That's really quite a good idea..

This really is not a faction lock thread. I understand the alarmism, given that it does have to do with factions... But I think you're selling the premise of the thread short.

You could play around with numbers, have Skyrim + High Rock vs everyone else or straight-up Man vs. Mer with beast races caught in between just as examples. And non-neighbouring alliances aren't unheard of even in human history; people can go ahead and make a case for that, if they wish.

Edit: I admit, prohibiting the choice of the original three factions in the OP was a mistake. I actually did it simply to encourage people to be creative, not to show that I don't endorse ZOS' choices to an extent. I absolutely do by the way, but I know I have a few little changes in mind that I would've made, and I was thinking maybe a few other posters thought the same.

I think they split them perfectly well. Especially geographically. It makes sense they would all stay close to their homelands.

My Breton Battlemage will have a whale of a time in High Rock and Hammerfell and Orsinium.

And a fireball to the face of all opposition. Everybody wins! :D
