Title. Obviously I'd prefer no spoilers. I'm just curious (as I'm building my characters for it atm) whether or not I'll have to complete the Main Quest before I can do Dawnguard's questline.

No you don't. I started it with a level 1 character. I wouldn't recommend it but it can be done.

You need to be at least level 10 to be approached by the Dawnguard but you can go there on your own at any level

I have, but not with the Character I'm using currently. It's no harder then any other quest I've come across. Which is probably more due to the level scaling then anything else. (god I hate it!)
