You know what? I love the idea of Hearthfire.

I just don't see why there is so much hate for this DLC, considering what depth it can potentially add in a role-playing perspective. I, for one, have always dreamed the idea of having to make my own home in the wilderness and then customise it exactly how I like. However, Bethesda have only ever given us a standard house/castle/hideout and I've always felt like they were lacking something personal.

It just makes me think when I look at these forums and see a dozen "I hate Bethesda" and "Have Bethesda lost touch?"; what are you people even hoping to achieve? If you don't like a DLC, then don't buy it. It's not like Bethesda have taken your family and are forcing you to buy it or they'll execute them.

And to anyone complaining about the price of the DLC, you shouldn't even be playing the game. If you can't afford or are too stubborn to buy it (I'm not pointing at those who genuinely don't want the DLC, just those who do and complain about the price.), then you should sell your copy and put your money to better use.

But yeah, agree with me, disagree with me, flame me, troll me; I don't really care. I just wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. Of course, nothing can be perfect, and I'm not just a Bethesda really devoted fan. Yes, I enjoy their content (I wouldn't be here if I didn't), I just don't think they deserve all of the hate they get after EVERY SINGLE DLC THEY RELEASE.

Peace out.

Why can't we have an Unofficial Hearthfire Thread.. Where people can complain about PS3 and Hearthfire while others say how Hearthfire is good..

There is a wide chance that there is much more to this dlc than they are telling. Bethesda is the type of company that loves to surprise us. Remember, one of their patches gave us horse combat, and it was a freebie. It could be that inside the dlc is a tale that takes us to new landmasses with lots of content. You can't prove that there isn't.

If you read past threads about what people wanted in future DLC's, lots of people mentioned house building and child adoption. Myself included. Bethesda listened to us. Hearthfire is a small DLC, designed to give players a richer domestic experience. I am overjoyed at the news. If you feel otherwise, sorry. But this crap about Bethesda dropping the ball is dead wrong.

They're giving certain players what they asked for. It's that simple.

I agree with you. I think Hearthfire can really make a deeper role-playing experience. Also I think if they really make the house building totally customizable, this dlc will be more successful and accepted because people will create some really cool, original stuff. I don't see a reason to complain about it at all. Like was said before, it's a small DLC, very cheap, and it can only make the game better.

in a rather big way i might add especcially if such construction features are included into future elder scrolls games.

Agreed. I can see more customization in the future of TES.

If you don't like a DLC, then don't buy it.
I think the issue people have with the DLC, me included, is not that we're forced to buy it, but rather that we were... Excited, for a new DLC, and then we get "this".
"This" is what they chose to spend their time and resources on developing.

So why do we complain/whine/criticize it? Because we want Bethesda to avoid doing bad(<--subjective) development decisions in the future.
I mean, if no one ever criticized Horse Armor we might have gotten tons of those kinds of DLC's by now.
We need to criticize things we don't feel happy about. And a good portion of the community dislike how they're turning the RPG into a real life simulator.

Can hearthfire have it's own sub-category called "The troll cave"

I wanna see discussion about skyrim in the General discussion area, not complaints about an add on
