When I play RPG's, I almost always play as a female. I find it interesting because the developers often put in little details in the game that are different from what I would expect, simply because I'm a guy and I'm playing as a girl.

Oh, by the way, I don't play any MMO's so that really doesn't apply to me.

It's usually up to the animations. I often like the female animations for games as they look less effortless.
Also no, never tried to hook with some dude whilst playing. I think that's reserved to people with BPD and Pollocks.

Ill play as both sixes, mainly to see the difference (if any) in the way the game treats a male lead vs. a female one.

Also, I don't play MMOs so no, I've never tried to "hook up" with a dude while playing as a chick.

Yes, I play both genders, and I'm female. I don't have a preference for which gender I play, but I have noticed that I tend to pick female for my first playthroughs of games, if possible. Probably because my first play is finding out how everything works, so I'll be 'myself' rather than role-playing.

I've never played WoW or any similar MMO, but even if I did I'd be honest with people from the start. Avoids awkward misunderstandings.

In Guild Wars I have five female characters and one male character - the latter, I've not really done much with, I was just curious about trying it.

I haven't played the game in a while, but our guild is full of people from here and their close friends/family, so we all know each other anyway and most of us have met IRL.

So generally speaking, I play as my own gender (female) and don't deceive anyone.

I play both genders. I've never had any interest in hooking up with anyone in an MMO, and would block anyone who tried. I generally play on RP servers, so I don't mind some in-character flirtation, so long as it's with people who can differentiate RP from reality.

I'll play both. Whatever fits the personality I want, as well as what the equipment looks like.

What gender I am has never really come up, but I will say my real gender. I did "hook up" with a guy on an MMO for a couple weeks when I was a teenager. Managed to scam some nice items from him :whistling:

I'll usually do my main playthrough as a male, then start another playthrough - in Fallout games it'll usually be a stealth or speech focused playthrough - as a girl.

Funnily enough, two people from our guild did get together and are still together many years later, so sometimes genuine romances can happen. I don't think anyone I know has claimed to be a different six, though occasionally someone might lie about their age.

Hmm. I'm going to have to start lying about mine soon, come to think of it. Do you think I could pass for 29? ;)

I play either gender, depending on which I feel best fits the story. So the Courier for example, could go either way, but I can't see a female Courier helping the legion. Nor can I picture the Lone Wanderer as anything other than a girl.

I play both, usually I don't get more than halfway through the game as a female though. Probably because my first two playthroughs are as a guy and I've already done everything so I pick a female to see how different it is, but those small details don't really manage to hold my attention.

Also I've never played an MMO so this is just for RPGs.

I don't usually, but maybe once in a while for RP. Doesn't last long though.

How do I view people who do that? The same as anyone else.

Generally always play male. Only exception is in DA2, where I made a female character, because I liked the voice acting.

I have to be able to somewhat identify with an avatar to be able to get into an RPG or MMO. Hearing a female voice coming out of it kind of breaks the immersion for me.

I have never played an MMO and don't have much interest in starting.
I play both genders, but I find it's easiest when playing a game for the first time to play as your own gender. In many of the games I've played where you have a choice the feel of a game and your interactions in it can change dramatically between a male and female character. I honestly think that you haven't fully experience a game until you've tried it with both genders.

I usually play as the superior face first (male, obviously), and then female second just to see the difference.

The only view I have on it is that it's utterly baffling to me that the question even exists. I've seen several threads on it here. I may as well be asked "Do you write left-handed? What's your opinion of people who write left-handed?" I have nothing much to say other than "...who cares?" I don't much understand the appeal to immersion, either. A woman is a lot less different from me than a wizard or an elf, but people never seem to question that.

Yes

or if you dont whats your view on people who do ?

Don't care. (My only view on the general topic is that I find it odd how many people make "But why would you want to play the opposite? It's gross/immoral/transgender/etc!" threads on places like the WoW forums.)

and if you do play games as the opposite gender are you deceptive and try to "hook" up with people or are you truthful and let everyone your real gender or are you liek me play as the opposite gender but only let peopel know real gender if they ask and play game as if i wa playing a male

With my WoW characters I've never tried to announce my own six one way or the other. Don't try to "flirt" or act girly, but I also don't go out of my way to say "I'm a guy."

Of course, apparently I either played on a server with people who assume everyones a guy anyway, or the basic way I act doesn't seem "female", because I've certainly never had anyone try to hit on me, or offer me free stuff, or anything like that. Not even on my Blood Elf Barbie er, Paladin, who did her best to be a fashion model and dress in all the best "bikini plate" the game contained.

(General observation: the people who think it's weird, tend to see the character as a representation of themselves. The people who don't have issues with it, tend to see the character as an external person that they're moving around. To me, the character is just an action figure that I'm moving around on the game board - playing a female character isn't some indication that I want a six change.)

I generally play as female characters, just seems more natural to me. I suppose I don't really have an opinion about people who play as whatever they play as, though: a lot of explanations and reasons have been bandied about, but the most compelling is the one that seems to get the least recognition: "because I feel like it."

I played FFXIII and I would either lead with Fang or Lightning. I actually used an all girl party for most of the game. Vanille was an awesome healer.
