Do you spend a lot of time on facial customization?

Post » Mon Oct 22, 2012 4:21 pm

I have to say that I don't, to me it seems kinda pointless because it doesn't really affect your game in anyway and most of the time you will be playing from the first person. I just go with one of the presets

I do. I'm always looking for perfect faces. I even restart the game if I'm not pleased, I recently dumped a Nord thief in the level 20's because I changed my mind about her eyes only :ermm:

Yes. I spend a lot of time checking out my character while playing, so they better be appeasing. (or at least match their role.) There is no 3rd person, it's just simply vanity mode. Lol.
I think the most time I've spent was probably around 30 minutes... Ahem. Yeh. :D

I do and I don't. I don't mind some imperfections, because let's face it. I'm the only one that's perfect.

Not really. I play as a vampire, so i just pick some evil looking eyes and shading and let the transformation do the rest.

I do. When I come up with a character idea, I usually have an image in my head of how the character looks (in many cases, that's where I start. Skills, what quests and so on comes later.). I'm not satisfied until the character I create looks as much as that image as possible. 30-45 min is what it usually takes. In some cases, I have to do it all over. :P

Of course I think it's fun as well, if I didn't I wouldn't spend so much time on it!

Way too much. I hate to admit how much.

It's not supposed to have a point really. I know I don't see the character's face much in the longrun. It's just for the player's own sense of vision, creativity, or satisfaction. I'm OCD about everything I create really. My own worst enemy with drawing, playing guitar, etc.. Games are no different, if you give me flexible enough tools.

It's fun to do, and completely worth half an hour or tweaking every bit; because if that build turns out to be fun, then that's who you're gonna stare at for the next, say, 500 hours :P. And I think it's pretty funny how I get attached to the face after a while; even thinking about changing anything is blasphemy, even just hair color.

Made this wickedly sharp looking blond high elf female with a sly smirk and badass triple animal scars on her cheek. Turned her into vampire, didn't like the red eyes too much, and I was like "Ok, I can live with that". Then came Dawnguard; and the moment I load up the save after downloading Dawnguard, I was like "That's it; I WON the [censored] game".

She now looks completely radical; not simply evil, but more like the type who walks away from burning villages, explosions and flying dead bodies in slow-motion to some Nico Vega.

I do, I'm obsessive about it and I hate it. I once spent an entire afternoon just replaying the opening because I wasn't happy with one tiny detail.

I spend a lot less time than I used to spend in Morrowind (with mods) and in Oblivion. A few of my Oblivion characters literally took me an entire day to create. I had a really hard time making faces I was happy with in that game. I am much more pleased with the default looks of most of the Skyrim presets and have managed to find faces I am happy with in less than thirty minutes.

At first, no. I actually just skipped the whole process and went with the default face. I did later regret it and changed it when DG came out by giving my man war paint and a handlebar moustache.

No. I usually take one of the pre-sets and tweak it a little, but that is about it. I have an idea of what I want my character to look like, but that is usually very easy to furfill. I don't care much for a character looking perfect.

I don't like the general style of Oblivion, but I had an easier time, just because I had more control. Here, it's a little like playing "whack-a-mole". Some features are sort of predefined in many aspects (like nose shapes) and tend to look better at certain lengths and heights. If you get out of that safe zone, then it's possible another facial feature will look odd (if you look hard enough). Like maybe all of the sudden the eye height or cheek width looks wacky in conjuction with the nose. With Oblivion, you can adjust everything to blend together easier.

Or maybe I just think about it too much.

My character's appearance is very important to me. I spend a lot of time working on their face, usually at least 20-30 minutes to start with. Then later I will often spend another 5-10 minutes tweaking later in the game, typically after escaping Helgen and getting out into some better lighting (I am on the PC, so I can do that). Then of course comes the eternal question of what to wear, which can take much longer.

Too bad you're not on PC lol

I tend to change my characters appearance as he levels to make him look older

Typically about half an hour. I wouldn't call that long considering I may end up playing that character for 100s of hours.

I think the lol is that it is possible to change it and he just dumped a character for no good reason, unless he is on the PS3.
I tend to spend 20 minutes or more on the face getting what I want.

I play first person only so....basically anything having to do with body is pointless. I switch to 3rd person to simulate me looking at myself in a mirror or checking my clothes but that's it.

I'm sorta OCD so if I tried to make the perfect face...well....I'd die.

Yes, I make sure to have no imperfections that may bother me while playing the game, besides, it's fun.

I tend to get an idea of what my character is going to do as far as in-game play goes and try to make him look "believeable" in his role. I don't know, trying to play a skull-crushing, dual wielding hack and slasher with a Bosmer just don't seem right to me....so ya,I spend a bit of time fine-tuning my character's looks.

I only play in third person so I see my character a lot. I hate first person in any game. I spend a lot of time on character creation.

I don't really need to. The average nord only requires a few tweaks to have that look I'm trying to get.
