You Steam buyers are missing out

I was surprised that there was even a map in the retail copy in this day and age, let alone how cool it was. Nice rough textured paper and bigger than any of the previous games' maps. And the game is really fun so far, far more enjoyable than Oblivion and far more artistic looking. Here's to you, Bethesda...you made me remember my sense of wonder when I bought Morrowind nearly ten years ago. Cheers!

Remember when PC games used to come in boxes with manuals...

Not a DVD case with a paper map...

Hell does any company still sell games in boxes with actual in0depth manuals? Last one I can remember was from Blizzard.

Steam buyers got a hat--not just any hat, a digital non-existing one. I'd take one of those over this stupid map any day. [/sarcasm]

The map is rather nice. Only reason I bought the retail version.

I wish I had the physical copy. Damn you convenient and simple d2d system.

Has anyone got a picture of a paper map? I want to compare it to my cloth map.

I don't think that's possible. All first run copies have a premium map. You'll have to wait a bit :P

That's by design. It has an old world medieval feel to it.

I would love to have gotten the collectors edition but as a lazy Americano I didn't pre order and just walked into Best Buy hoping they would have it...just the regular-make-you-feel-bad-you-didnt-shell-out-75-bucks edition.

Hmm lets do some math.....................
For the 59.99 price on steam you get.......
A serial key
A pdf manual
For the 59.99 retail version you get.
Box
Discs
Manual
Map
Hmm see where im going with this. No wonder game developers love steam they get to keep a bigger cut of the pie and even dont have to pay the printing and shipping costs involved in getting the product to a retail store.
Where does that extra savings go?
Surely isnt passed onto the consumer.
And yes i miss the days when all games were boxed versions with more then adequate manuals.

Ah right ok :P

I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the cloth map. It did remind me an awful lot of wallpaper...

Two words. Steam sales. Christmas is coming, and if you like buying cheap games, your wallet will run empty before you can say Hanukkah. And I don't just mean crap games no one likes playing. Skyrim might possibly go for a really cheap price. Usually Steam does a few premier games for up to 75% off during their special sales events. It's one of the reasons they're really profitable.

And it's entirely possible you'll also see a Bethesda collection for really cheap, too. Skyrim included in the bundle.

I preordered a Xbox version online and a PC Collector's Edition in store. I got the Xbox one a day early so I was the last person who preordered the game to pick up my copy at my local store.
