Do you think everyone will be a winner?

In this new MMO?

It would seem that most games nowadays gaming companies like to please the vast audience and tend to their needs. Also known as the more casual players. There's nothing wrong with being casual. But read this article to find out more what i'm talking about.

Its very interesting to see that this right here effects the whole gaming industry. I really hope ZoS knows what they are doing when it comes to Losing and Winning. Its a huge part of every game.

You are worried Americans are too stupid to know how to make a game right?

Atleast that is what I got out of it. However, to tell you the truth, it was a bit wordsy so I did not read it all. Hurt my widdle brain.

Everyone who plays this game is winning, yes.

I'm American, and I will agree with you that Americans are getting to be a bit too casual and tend to rub off on games that I like. WoW, Diablo3 just for example are casualized to the point where everyone is a winner, and its just not fun. I really don't know another word to explain the degrading of those games.

Yes. Skyrim is like this, it's impossible to fail. It's worrisome, failure is an important part of life.

Unrelated, but it's the only question I have after reading this: who's Steve-O?

So, you agree with yourself.

I did not see that one coming.

Maybe I'm a minority, but I'm an American and I disagree with the article. I want to be able to lose.

No clue, but since I should apparently know who he is I'm guessing he's a comedian or something. I'm well aware Stalin was a Russian dictator, though.

I think this article is a bit inaccurate. Although I do agree with some things such as character individualization being crucial.

Yes, everyone likes to win. However if there is no possibility of loosing then the rush of excitement when you win is severely diminished. If everyone wins all the time it gets old and very boring very fast. There must be consequences in all aspects of any game or winning becomes completely pointless.

The point being made I think is that a low brow, stupid slap stick comedian is more well known than a historical figure.

American might not have the status smartest people on earth, but i dont think the article is right.( Do you guys really don't know who stalin was)

When i think about USA, i think about fat people with loaded guns while they eating at MC Donalds. Does that mean everybody is like that no.

Older Player mostly like slower and more challenging gameplay, the younger ones are more for fast and action gameplay, atleast i think that.

OH i forgot to answer your question, no i dont think the will manage to please everybody.

If they learn from WOW, and other MMOs, I think gaming in general will start to do things right.

Burning Crusade in WOW was pretty much perfect as far as difficulty goes. I played with 3 different guilds. One somewhat raid oriented, but not super hardcoe, with some casual. It took us a few months to clear Kara, and other starting raids. I love progression, and moved to a different guild and pressed hard to clear through Black Temple when it was patched in.

I think the balance should be that the end game content should be available to any **competent** player, and I think in Burning Crusade that was fairly true. Sunwell was a little extreme, but we had some members who ranked as "just competent" ... those that know not to stand in fire, and could build a decent character ... and we did pretty damn well. The 3rd guild was Drow - Top 5 US continually... we just smashed through [censored].

If they make it like Lich King, where a pug can clear all the content... [censored] that. I don't want "hard mode" I want the content to be legitimately hard. Niche encounters that have scaled difficulty, like Sarth 3D - great hardmode option, but pressing the "make this raid harder" button isn't the way to do it.

I want legitimately hard content. If you want to see the end content, work your ass off and go see it, nothing's stopping you. If you want it handed to you, and don't want to work for it, [censored] you, go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

/thread.

As to Steve-O vs Stalin, most Americans think Benjamin Franklin crossed the Mississippi in 1942 during our war with Vietnam over Canada (which we won by the way, which is why Canadians also use dollars as their currency.)
