Why not? That strikes me as rather solipsistic. Your belief seems to be due to an unwillingness to believe anything else could be so, rather than a product of rational thought.
It isn't gone though, is it? It continues with or without us. At some point humanity will become extinct but the world will carry on all the same. Then eventually the sun will supernova and destroy our planet.
It doesn't matter though, because there are billions of stars with trillions of planets between them and planet earth's demise will be meaningless.
Humanity is not even a spec of sand in a desert, not even the moss on a rock. In terms of scale, we are too small to register existence.
I really like your way of putting it, You make many great points. I am one that believes we are here just because we are. No divine power created us, it was just nature, evolution and biology. We where just lucky enough to gain the intelligence. Saying that our planet dieing is meaningless on the grand scale of the universe is such a striking thought. Really I like what you have to say do keep going.
This Jucey guy seems to make irrational claims and statements, his source? Strait out of his ass. Science is the ultimate fact in this world. The fact that this guy says scientists guess tells me he really doesn't know anything about how things really work. Also it leads me to believe he follows a faith blindly without question. He won't question why lightning arcs across the sky during a storm because he is to afraid to say that it is not god that makes it happen. But alas that is his choice and I am not here to change that.
I really hope the moderators do not close this, it is oh so interesting!
