Do you venture solo or with a follower?

Post » Tue Oct 23, 2012 5:19 am

I have about 3 followers ,including lydia, armored troll and my wife, janessa (lol) though i only tend to use them if im just chilling not doing much, but if im questing i go solo as im a stealth character they always give away my position after the first shot is fired..!

What about you guys?

Solo is better and more challenging for me. I did use Derkeethus for a while but I prefer solo.

Follower, always. In my early Skyrim days I mostly went solo, but I've been using followers more and more, to the point where I feel lonely and vulnerable without one. :P

I have tried a handful of companions and I prefer to be solo. They lack stealth, pathfinding, basic combat knowledge and their very limited dialogue adds zero to my adventures. Used them as bait for dragons in the early levels.

On my first game, I used them just because they were there. Once I realized how pathetic they were, ditched them and played solo since.

Might I add, going solo is completely by choice. Should they add a powerful companion eventually, I'll still play alone.

Currently I have Mjoll in full Daedric Armour with a Daedric Battleaxe, and the Sanguine Rose which she often uses to provide a Dremora Lord, and then two Storm Thralls following behind me.

I usually prefer solo, but occasionally I'll take a useful follower like Aela.

Solo nowadays. Only when I was "adventure-questing" instead of "playing the game" did I use followers

I have a team, The Dragonians! And later on I'll have myself an army to take on the Thalmor (and the Empire if they get in my way)!

Solo, because the follower AI is atrocious.

It's nowhere near as bad on PC with mods like UFO and ASIS.

If they actually had a back story... a reason for them being there, then I would use them. As it stands, they are just kind of there with no rhyme or reason why, so the answer is no, not in TES.

I miss the New Vegas followers, and had hopes that after that, Bethesda would actually make followers with some depth...boy was I a dumb [censored] for thinking that would actually happen.

My mainline characters were all solo flyers. When my Khajiit needs help, he usually just decides that it's ODAHVIING TIME!! And then... :mage:

My Nord and Redguard are both using mercenaries. The former has Marcurio, the latter is trying out Vorstag.

Solo. The truly atrocious followers in Oblivion left me with such bad memories "Huzzah!", that I just cannot bear to have them around in Skyrim, even though they are not nearly as bad.

Solo most of the time, but if they had better personality, disposition that I can increase or decrease with words, actions and gifts, spontaneous dialogue lines and more environment awareness, I'd like to use them more. In the current state they're just dead men walking.
