Your favorite game.

Now, don't yell at me though my iPhone because this has most likely been brought up in the past, because if it was it was a long time ago. Now, down to business, I want to know why your favorite game of all time is. Not just the game you like most at the moment, the game that you enjoyed the most when it first came out. My favorite was probably FO:3 (GOTY, or vanilla) because I had a blast the first few months with it and I still play it from time to time. So what's yours, I don't care if it's WoW (which I personally dispise), modern warfare, Sims, Skyrim, Pong, Legend of Zelda etc., just tell me and tell me why.

My favorite game will have to be Duke Nukem Forever (I don't care what anybody says I love this game) followed by Duke Nukem 3D and Soul Calibur.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

The followers were awesome, the story with its branching paths was awesome, the setting was awesome, the various ways to tackle any given situation were awesome. The final boss is one of my all-time favorite characters, period.

Arcanum is wonderful.

When I was little, I fell in love with the sequel to Banjo-Kazooie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banjo-Tooie

That and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshi%27s_island are my all time favorites.

007:Goldeneye and New Vegas are some of my games that I've always treasured and probably always will. Oh, and Ninja Gaiden II alongwith Call of Duty 4 and World at War.

While not my favourite, it's in my top 10 for sure. Brilliant game.

Europa Universalis III. It strikes the right balance of fun and complexity/realism for me. Victoria II and Hearts of Iron III are too complex, and your ability to redraw the map is too limited in Crusader Kings II (plus it's slower-paced). On the other side of the comparison I've always found the strategic part of Total War games a little lacking in depth, even with mods. Unlike many historical games, in EU3 the typical late-game consolidation and blobbing is actually historical, since the time period it depicts is the period marked by the increasing ascendancy of Europe and centralized states. This is a big plus for me, I've always been bothered by a Rome Total War late game, for example, where there are just a handful of powerful states covering the whole map, which wasn't what happened in our timeline in that period and would not have been possible.

Alternately, Fallout New Vegas. I like both the cowboy and Vegas motifs, as well as Fallout's brand of retro-futuristic aesthetic. Love the cheery optimism of the fifties juxtaposed with the harsh, pragmatic wasteland. and the Vault Boy. It's true that Fallout 3 had a lot of these elements too, but to me it feels like FNV is the polished version that fully realized the potential of the premise. It also has particularly strong writing wrapped around engaging action and role-playing. I especially like the comparatively realistic and nuanced way it handles imperial factions and regional politics, which imo is far beyond any other RPG/action game I've played yet. It has a strong set of DLCs with an overarching story that, at least for me, sets the bar with which all other games' DLCs are compared against. Lastly but not least, under the umbrella of 'strong writing', it has a number of homosixual characters where their sixuality is not the focus of their characterisation nor shunned, but just a normal facet of their character. (Thinking in particular of Veronica and my favourite character Arcade. *points to avatar*)

[I'm assuming you don't want us to just rattle off a list of games we really like, just our absolute favourites.]

Currently Dragon Age 2.

Of all time, either The Sims series (yep....all of them :P) or System Shock 2.

Phantasy Star Online Ep 1 & 2. I think it was my first online game, certainly my first online RPG. I loved the combat, leveling and hunting rares most of all. I'd sometimes lose my breath when a red box dropped. Made a bunch of new friends. I still play it occasionally and I'm playing a bit of PSO 2 JP.

Minesweeper forever.

Now seriously, along all them' classic Windows games, my favorites would be the last three TES titles and the last two Sims titles.
