So, are there any levels in games that cause you to have glorious eyegasms?

Hitman has always had interesting levels, but the 2nd mission in Contracts, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpa7qCgEYiA&feature=related takes the cake for me.

This level includes: Gimp suits, meat lockers, classical music, techno, opium, and Jabba the Hut. Enjoy.

Doom 1 and 2, Tomb raider...full of great levels. I couldnt name a specific one but I wish they still made them like that. Hitman is a good one too, I agree.

The greatest thing for me about old FPS were the levels chock full of secrets.

That Hitman level is great done both ways: first the sneaky way, then, once you've unlocked all the weapons, go back and slaughter every gimp on that dance floor. The music just makes it that much more satisfying.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_z7AZR2euo. Its not so much the level itself as it is that....thing. The best part was that if you knew what you were doing, you could kill it.

Turok : Seeds of Evil had some wonderful sprawling levels. My favourite would be River of Souls.

Metro 2033, lots of great ones. I liked black station, you can complete it without killing anyone, and the enemies also have a human side.
Any outdoors mission in mirrors edge, and the one in the storm drain.
Halo 3, last level ( Liked the driving section alot).
Alan wake, the rock concert.

I loved that game so much. That remake they did when this generation of consoles popped up really didn't do the series justice.

I'm ashamed to say I have yet to visit Blackreach. SWTOR has been occupying most of my time and I haven't touched Skyrim in a while.

The serious sam series is amazing in general, but the music + the atmosphere makes this level one of my favorites.

Pyramid level in Commander Keen 7.
Undead Burg (all 3 sections) in Dark Souls

That mission in MW3 where you need to fight Summoner at the first time.

There must be more, but I can't think more right now.

Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos - Orc Campaign Third Mission

Is this the one where Grom and his buds drink from the Fel Blood fountain and become Fel Orcs? If so, I agree with you, this mission is pretty awesome.

Oh, yeah, how did I forget a Symphony of Flame and Frost from WC3: FT? Guess my mind wasn't really in an RTS mood. But that level is pretty cool.

Acually this is a awesome mission, too. (I mean fel orcs, HELL YEAH) But no the third mission is the first base building mission, where grom doesn't follow your orders and attacks the humans without your permission.

Thief: TDP - The Sword
Thief: MA - Life of the Party
Thief: DS - Overlook Manse

These are three of the most awesome levels in gaming, and the three brightest gems of the Thief series.

Halo - Assault on the Control room.

Other levels from Halo have aged considerably, but I still find that one to be immensely fun.
