Your fears or phobias

In following with the inflow of Halloween themed threads, here's the latest.

Personally, I'm terrified of needles for some reason or another. I absolutely hate giving blood, and I'm not a big fan of vaccinations.

I'm glad I don't have that fear. For as many times as I've been poked and had blood taken or was given blood, a fear of the needles would pretty much ruin everything. Lol I still get my blood drawn monthly.

Oh, and I have a fear of dreams. You know, like the dreams you have at night. Yeah, hate 'em. I lose sleep over this madness.

I really wanna ask why, but also feel like it's none of my business and don't wanna pry. It's a dilemma... :ahhh:

Well, I'm not afraid of needles. I have six tattoos and have had an average amount of shots as an American citizen.

I have an irrational fear of tailless whip scorpions.

I'm scared to death of underwater segments of video games, especially when there are monsters involved. It takes me a large amount of time to force myself to play through these segments. Half-Life was the worst with the Itchyasaur thing. (I'm stuck on Black Mesa because I'm too scared to find out what it's like). Duke Nukem 3D was scary underwater, but I've beaten it numerous times. I never could make myself play through the water scene in Cryostasis. Too foreboding. It took me months to make myself do the underwater portions of Daggerfall's dungeons. I failed many quests because of this. I've never seen a scarier water in my entire life., and those Draughs are fearsome.

Oh, it's no problem. The short story is I had cancer twice. Leukemia actually. For the second cancer attack I needed to undergo a bone marrow transplant and with that comes all sorts of sub-issues. So that's why I've been needled thousands upon thousands of times. I've mentioned this here on the forums a couple times so I just assume everyone is aware of it I guess, lol. My bad.

I guess you have more than one reason to fear the water temple in OOT...

I'm sorry you had to bring it up again, then :( And I'm sorry to hear you've been through so much. I've been a casual visitor to the forums for years, but only registered yesterday, so there's much I don't know.

Well, considering I absolutely hate OOT and all Zelda games, I would never have known about that.

Oh no no, don't worry about it. It's completely fine. I've only posted it in those "tell us your story" threads anyway, because believe it or not, my story gets much worse. I don't mind telling my story, especially when people are actually nice enough to ask about it. :)

Well anyway, welcome to the forums! Hope you stick around!

I don't know if it's a phobia, but I can't give blood. I'm fine with shots, and I don't want a tattoo but imagine I could handle one. I have a high tolerance for pain and needles are no exception. I'm fine with blood, I sliced my knee up once and bandaged it with tissues and scotch tape. Just...I don't know. I wish I could, but the thought makes me queasy.

I'll do it one day, to get over it.

Also I don't like people. That's not a phobia though. It's perfectly rational.

Good luck when you do end up trying it. I don't know if you ever saw someone give blood, but they take a crazy large amount. They give you a list of things to do and not do before and after. Like don't operate large or heavy machinery after giving blood because you'll probably be dizzy. You know, those type of things.

Dunno, I've always had no problems with blood donations.... I actually try to go each time they have a blood drive at my hospital. I'm OK with
needles, too.... maybe because that's a large part of my job

I know. And sorry, but trying to intimidate me won't work.

I don't trust me to operate heavy machinery when I'm 100% healthy and sober.

Haha, I tried! Nah but seriously, if I could I still probably wouldn't give blood. That sounds strange considering how many blood transfusions I've needed over the years. My blood type isn't rare or anything. It's actually one of the types given the most often.

And I'm with Poohunter. I hate me some spiders. Living in an old house doesn't help arachnaphobia either. Lately we've been getting these really big and long nasty looking brown bugs. I think they're some sort of new undiscovered species. I hate 'em.

I don't like heights. I get Social Anxiety nowadays too, which I didn't used to have a problem with. Not sure what's going on there.

A friend of mine has Gynophobia, (fear of women), I can sort of understand that.
