After a certain amount of time spent with the Companions, (and the required perk) you can smith it at the Skyforge. Not quite as strong as steel plate but very cool-looking. Also another way but that's a spoiler for another way.

well i finished the companions quest line, though all my smithing skills went to the heavy side and the enchanted smithing

man that mod armor is pretty sick, what is it, just a retexture of some existing stuff or entirely original?

edit- and is he/she wearing glasses?

The armor is http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=6685, it's retextured, and partially remodelled steel armor. Looks very nice, but has some clipping issues, unfortunately.

And yes, she is wearing glasses (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11068).

i think my bard has an interesting outfit. He is Khajiit with the Bard-looking purple and gold shirt, Thieves Guild Boots, Thieves guild gloves, and the Fine Hat (the funny one that hangs over your face). Sometimes i switch to College Robes and Scaled Bracers just because i can. I also carry around Ragged Robes because...i dont have a reason actually...imagine that

My barbarian nord rocks ragged trousers,.hide bracers, hide boots and a talos amulet with wuuthrad on his back. Sometimes before heading to a big battle he'll stop home and put on his battle armor, ancient nord armor and helm with stormcloak officer boots and nord steel gauntlets.

My altmer mage wears the archmage robes and a circlet.as thats the only unique robes in game...dam greybeards wont share a set of theirs with their dragonborn

Many mods. The circlet has the "Glowing Circlet Gems" mod, the shield is a retexture of a Dragonplate' one, and the armor is from the "Warmage Armor" mod. The sword is Glamdring from "Isilmeriel's LOTR weapons", and the hood from "Fur Hoods HD".

You can't see it from that perspective, but he also has a backpack behind :) Courtesy of "Sabre Cat Backpacks".

I could so picture a Septim leading an army into battle wearing that armor

You mean the third screen, no? (Mods: Hedge Knight Armor (armor)/ Winter is Coming (cape)/ Fur Hoods HD (armored hood)/ Ebony Shield retexture).

Yes, love it, too. Kinda reminds me of the armor Maximus wore during the first scenes of "Gladiator", which I loved, too. If I find any mod (or it's officially implemented) that adds mounted combat, I'll add an armored horse to him, too :)

My character carries around 6 sets of glass armor to change into. It's glass armor for combat, glass armor for crafting, glass armor for sneaking, glass armor for destruction combat, glass armor for carrying extra junk, glass armor for conjuration, etc. plus an unenchanted glass armor set just in case I think of something else to enchant. Weighless armor perk for light armor makes all armors of the worn type weighless, not just ones you are wearing.

Geez it looks like youve got everything covered lol

yes i was talking about the 3rd set, its pretty epic and from what i saw in that video the mounted combat didnt look bad at all, plus through the patches we have already seen some of what was in that video hosted by tod implemented.
