Your storage places?

Besides buying your own house, is there a confirmed location/chest where you can store items? I used to store items on Lydia, but apparently she had a weight limit LOL

On the Xbox 360, I use barrels in any town.

Any empty barrel can be used to store a seemingly infinite amount of junk.

I'm about 35 hours into the game and have not lost a single item in my original barrel in Riverwood.

Please note this may work differently on other platforms (PS3 or PC).

Can anyone confirm if this works for all platforms?

Lydia has a weight limit? Wow. I haven't hit it yet and I've piled her down with tons of weapons and armor from raiding dungeons.

I store my items in barrels scattered throughout Skyrim. Most of the time I put them in discrete locations to make it feel more like I'm truly hiding my goods from possible thieves XD. I just make note of what Items I put where.

There's a chest in front of High Hrothgar which is empty. I haven't tested it yet, but this may do in a pinch.

I used an abandoned shack in the wilderness for a while. After several weeks in game the chests respawned and the items disappeared. Just realize you might lose it if it's not on you or in your house.
