Post » Sun May 05, 2013 2:31 pm

What would you do if you woke up yesterday and didn't see another person? T.V. doesn't get any channels, cars are at a standstill, nobody's at your work or stores.

What would you do you?

-Copy paste of the Vsauce forums topic

edit: You are the last person on earth, idk why i put you were the last person on earth. Can a mod please change the title.

I'd finish building my Minecraft world...

Then I would devote my life to Science and figure out how to repopulate the planet, such as making clones of myself then messing with their genes for diversity and making females.

I'd go 150 down the highway, figure out how to drive a tank, blow [censored] up, take a bunch of military equipment and hunt animals with ridiculous weapons such as the Beowulf.

Also, I'd probably mastvrbate and draw a lot.

EDIT: I'd probably go insane after the first two years.

Irrelevant, I would build robots to run it for me.

Plus the current world I'm working on is on the Xbox as I wait for my laptop to arrive, so I just need power to get the xbox and TV on. So all I really need is a generator.

I think power depends on the type, coal fired in comparison to hydro electric, i watched a show on this how long before power cuts out it was awhile back so i dont remember off hand. Generally if i woke up and found out i was the only one alive, well its hard to say what id do after celebrating that everyone in my city wasnt alive anymore, maybe stop think and realise i hadnt celebrated enough.

I'd find a van and loot pharmacies, hospitals, food stores, warehouses etc for essential supplies, just as an initial measure to make sure I've got everything in one place for a while until I decide what to do. Then I think I would travel around, exploring. I'd break into the offices of the government and secret services, and the storage areas for classified archives, to see what secrets I could discover. I'd loot some famous art to put in my home. Eventually I'd try to find a location where I could live permanently and become as self sufficient as possible. I would probably also commit frequent acts of public indecency

First, I would take my time to learn the art of painting.

After a few years of practice, I would go find a cave or an underground facility. Something that is big and can withstand the test of time. A missile silo or something like that.

Inside that facility, I would find a long hall. Bringing my paintbrush and plenty of paint (and time), I would "write" a message to whoever is the next ruler of Planet Earth, be it an evolved animal or extraterrestrial alien.

On the left side of the hall, I would paint the story of mankind from its conception to its untimely demise. An abridged version, but one that would give a big idea of how mankind came from Ethiopia and spread out to rule the world.

On the roof, I would paint scientific information. Calculations made about the Sun's expected timeframe (scientists suspect Earth will become uninhabitable ~1 billion years from now), the table of elements, the atomic model, etc.

On the back of the hallway I would leave Latin textbooks with basic tools for a most likely illiterate entity to learn the language of science. Extensive books packed in an environment where they could be preserved for millions of years. And on the right side of the hall, in Latin I would perhaps write a poem or simply the greetings from the last man on Earth. After that, I don't know. I would probably dedicate my life to science and do things that I have always wanted to do.

In addition to that, if I were you first I would leave a book in English, not Latin. That way I would know what I'm putting there for sure. Then I would leave several dictionaries too and write some type of long history book detailing some of the things that were painted, and others things that weren't painted.

I know Latin myself, and English is a terribly complicated language while Latin works under a relatively small set of rules. I'm thinking in the interests of the visitor here, it's imperative that he/she/it will understand what I'm trying to say there.

I would go find all the fountains in Kentucky and steal the coins out of them.

Then I would break into Capcom and play the demo of Megaman Legends 3

After that, with no one around, I would sadly end up insane.

Well to a visitor who doesn't know anything, we have no idea what would or would not be easy for them to read.

So I would do it in my own interest hoping that they would eventually figure out what I wrote. Then if I did it in English it would be described the best way possible.

There brains could be completely different from ours.

Edit - I was going to say more than that but on reflection, I think that's about it.

Run a zoo and care for the animals. That at least gives you a purpose and some degree of socialization.

I'd start having six with dolphins to create a human/dolphin hybrid master race to take over the remains of the world when I'm gone.

And I'd eat all the Pringles I find.

First, I would go into my town and take a lot of personal items of remembrance.

Second, I would go about 100 miles away from my current location as there is a power plant 30 miles away. And with no one to run it, it would eventually have a meltdown.

Third, I would go take a lot of stuff. Gas would be plentiful, as well as weapons for hunting, and don't mention some sweet cars.

Fourth. I would find a nice place to live.

Fifth, begin the hunt for Mtn dew voltage. I would travel the country with my map of nuclear reactors, before finding the mtn dew plant. I would then hunt for all the cool guns I ever wanted. Then all the cars.

My must have weapon list (for the cools)

This is of course just to give me a purpose in life.

I'm not exactly the most social person in the world, but even I need human contact once in a while. Assuming I didn't eventually commit suicide, I'd most likely go insane from the lack of communication with others.

As for what I'd do before the inevitable...hard telling, I wouldn't know until it actually happened, but I might want to do some of the things that I normally wouldn't do if there were people around to tell me I shouldn't do them...like running down main street stark naked in broad daylight.

Oh yeah, and looting, lots and lots of looting. But even that would grow old quickly.

The History Channel had a show that talked about what would happen to the planet if all people just vanished. Most places would loose power with in a week. The only place that maintained electricity for a long time was places powered by Hoover Dam, I think it lasted about a decade. So probably any well built hydro - electric plant should produce electricity for a few years before it finally shuts down.

I would travel there, build a super computer, and play skyrim with all of my mods I have on my current hard drive. Then probably start playing with military grade weapons and stuff. The world would be my play ground.

Go insane. Might not be very social and am fairly introverted, but I don't think I could survive. Already struggle with not washing my hands every time I touch anything I don't deem okay to touch. If water isn't going to have any human made sanitation, I'll go even more insane.

I don't see any point in living if I can't interact with other people, be it offline or online. I'm fairly introverted, but being the last person on Earth seems pointless; I can't even find someone of the opposite six to procreate and rebuild society with.
