100 Skill Weapons

Never heard of a Swiss army knife or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzpRh-ZE9Mo?

Ever heard the expression "jack of all trades, master of none"?

Ever heard of AP rounds?

I have, yes. However, between All-American and the LMG firing the exact same 5.56 AP rounds, which do you think would take down a Deathclaw faster?

I wouldn't give it to Boone as he have the tenancy to drop any good decent weapon on him.

Boone has never dropped anything for me.

This Machine fire and reload pretty fast, it wouldn't have any problem taking down a horde of Cazador or Nightstalkers.

The main problem with Cazadors and Nightstalkers is target acquisition, not damage output. This Machine has a high spread, and it would be less accurate in VATS than the Trail Carbine (which I use on Cazadors with great success).

Maybe true in reality, but not in a video game.

All-American

Boone has never dropped anything for me.

Lucky you.

Why brother with VATS against such fast targets?

As for problem of target acquisition, its more about the player not the weapon.

i just started using the all american and its working out great for me against even the toughest enemies, think you might be doin something wrong.

You must be playing on a lower difficulty. The All-American just cannot punch through armored targets, and AP rounds are far more rare than .308 rounds. Even with AP 5.56 rounds, the All-American loses in damage output to This Machine.
Oh, and let me add: All-American and the LMG are not bad guns, but they definitely don't serve multiple roles like This Machine, Brush Gun, or a Scoped Trail Carbine.

A lot of the ranking of weapons is dependant on the ammo. Or frequency of it. I am running a mod that lets you craft hollow point and AP rounds, the LMG and All Amercian become amazing.

Another part of the problem - there is no hand load ammo for 5.56. The handload 308 is just over the top. Plus 50% damage. Way, way to strong. Should have nerfed hand load 308 and not the sniper rifle.

svcks for us console players. The only way I can seem to get 5.56 AP ammo is with Gun Runners and Bardon, a total of about 300 rounds. Not really worth it IMO, to keep waiting three days for such a measly sum. You can get upwards of 500 .308 rounds (which are much stronger) in total. Breakdown the useless 5mm (available in abundance) for the extra powder and lead, and craft tons of .308 JSP. Much better than stupid 5.56 AP ammo. Against a Deathclaw, All-American with AP rounds will do 26 damage, while This Machine with .308 JSP rounds will do 74.

Plasma:
A good number of people complain of it being inaccurate.

Not quite true... the spread on a plasma rifle is 0.2, and the caster is 0.7.
With a stationary target I rarely miss.

The reason some people can't hit what they are aiming at (perceived inaccuracy),
is not the spread but the velocity of the projectile.

With a moving target and slow moving projectile, you need to lead the target.
*Gasp* ...I know, a novel idea for a video game...

So V.A.T.S takes the guesswork out of leading the target...
which is why if you use plasma you probably use V.A.T.S. too.

As far as This Machine, it has a spread of 0.5; disappointing at best.
M1 Garands are used in service rifle competition out to 600 yards all the time.
They should have at least included a match barrel & trigger mod to reduce the spread in game.

But this is a 200+ year-old Garand, which has probably developed scary amounts of throat/muzzle erosion. Most unique weapons don't have mods, but seeing that it was planned as a normal weapon, some mods might exist in the fifth dinension...a place known as "The game files".
