Okay, my awards are going to mainly be Playstation centered because all my gaming is done on a PS3. I haven't played many game this year, so I won't give many awards.
Game of the Year:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - This should be a no-brainer. Its Skyrim. I've sank 130 hours into this game and loved every second of it. The glitches are annoying, but are far overshadowed by how perfect this game is. I'm taking a break from it at the moment, but soon I shall jump back in and slay a few more dragons.
Personal Favorite Game of the Year:
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - I love Uncharted. I was dissapointed in the ending to this outing, but the rest is fried gold cheese. It was between this game and Skyrim for GOTY, and that's like picking which chocolate cake you want to eat. They're both just as good. If you don't own a PS3, I really suggest buying one and playing the whole Uncharted series. If you don't, you will be missing a piece of gaming history.
PS3 Game of the Year:
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - See above.
Puzzle Game of the Year:
Portal 2 - If you've played this, I don't need to say anything. If you haven't played this, play it, because I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said. Its amazing. I would rather have gotten Half-Life 2: Episode 3 from Valve this year, but I don't think that'll ever happen.
Game That Shouldn't Have Worked, But Somehow Did:
LA Noire - I freaking love this game. I played it so much, I got the Platinum trophy in less than a month. Its a real shame the development team went under. I hope Rockstar decides to do a sequel, because I want more.
Survival Horror Game of the Year:
Dead Space 2 - I think this was the first game I bought this year. The multiplayer could've been better, but the singleplayer is essence of awesome. Isaac Clarke, and his new found voice, was a big part of that. He's definitely the coolest space engineer around.
DLC of the Year:
LA Noire - The DLC cases felt like they were in the original game, but were taken out just to make them DLC. The game doesn't feel complete without them. Despite this fact, they're still awesome. This award probably should go to New Vegas' DLC, but I haven't played them yet so I can't say anything about them.
Actor of the Year:
This one is a four-way tie between Nolan North as Nathan Drake of Uncharted 3, Stephen Merchant as Wheatley of Portal 2, Gunner Wright as Isaac Clarke of Dead Space 2, and Aaron Stanton as Cole Phelps of LA Noire. I don't really have to justify this quadfecta of awesomeness.
Re-release of the Year:
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Editon - Thank god Bethesda released this edition. If they hadn't, I would never have gotten into TES.
Collector's Edition of the Year:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - "Overpriced" they said. "It ain't worth it" they said. Best 150 bucks I've ever spent. My Alduin statue looks down at me as I read the frigging awesome art book and watch Making of documentary before I go to sleep and wake to play 8 hours of gaming perfection.
Flame War of the Year:
Modern Warfare 3 vs. Battlefield 3 - The dumbest thing I've ever seen. They're the best they are at what they do. If your not in the mood for CoD, play Battlefield 3. If your tired of Battlefield 3, play CoD. To me there is no competion. They're two games that offer two completely different experiences. Play which ever you're in the mood for, don't waste hours trolling forums and posting incomprehensible gibberish.
Most Anticipated Game:
Grand Theft Auto V - I think this is the most anticipated game in the world right now. I need it. Bad.
