see that is what Im lacking here. I need more people to come forward with what card they are using so I can see if we are having similar issues. Every topic I read throws "my pc is madd fast" or "my $3,000 set up" in my face and I cant tell if people using ati or nvidia and what cards etc...

Im using gtx285 been stuck with it since pre-ordered years ago. Nothing out there now can make me change it unless AMD brings out the 6xxx line soon or Nvidia makes sick ass card soon, talking multi-cpu multi-core card.

so using the dx9 dll AND these drivers should make this game move without sticking?

no dx9 .dll fix just the drivers. works great I get the best results with my aa and as off in game and go into the Nvidia panel and set my aa and as there....works great...

P.S. just put the as at 8 and the aa at 4 and it runs like a champ. I also have a 260gtx running the physx with out sli.

186.18s are for the 8xxx series.

The 260 line is actually quite good for the gtx400s.

For the GTX295 the best driver is the 197.45

260.99 didn't help with performance, it did however keep my game more stable.

The AA(x4) and AS(x16) from the Nvidia control panel looks horrible. But then I changed the AA samples to 8x and the quality didn't change. It doesn't even seem like its working at all. Do I pick falloutnv.exe, is there some other setting I must change too?

I know what it is for. My statement is meant in terms of best for performance. The 186.18s are best for the 8000s. Once you hit the 200 series you want to move up to 197s.

for the 200 series i would stick around the 18x.xx as drivers matured more for the release of fermi is when the 200 series took some crazy glitches for drivers really made for the next gpu lineup... terrible lag, esp with say the gauss rifle in fo3....
As for current cards out now the GTX 480's are amazing as they are hot/power hungry unless your willing to not run auto fan, have 1-4x 120mm 90-100cfm high airflow fans on them or 1 good 120mm high airflow fan requires an airflow chamber btw. yeah you have to meet that critera for the 480's to keep them at under 70c at full load mine do not break 67c on more demanding games w/ 3d vision.
GTX 4XX latest WHQL That got release a week or so ago...
2XX GTX Old WHQL 18x.xx drivers the 184.xx or the 186.18's where prob the best for them anything higher dont touch it with a 10 foot pole... They are drivers MEANT for the 200 series that dont have the starting of fermi integrations into them that slowed games esp game effects down in FO3.
9XXX Series 18x.xx Skipped this entire line because of the low amount of vram....my overclocked 8800 Ultra used to put the smack down on a 9800GX2 at higher resolutions, and eye candy cranked up.
8XXX Series 18x.xx drivers
7XXX Series cannot remember its been a long long time since I used the 7 series and didnt like those cards too much my 7950 was alright if I didnt plug in its molex for some reason=/ But only had that card for a short period of time
