300hrs of gameplay...

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:14 pm

Perhaps that number includes multiple characters? RPGs are meant to be played multiple times so that one can make a new character build and see how the game unfolds differently so it would make sense a number make include the time it takes you to play with a different character.

This is the most backwards, upside down and inside out excuse for developer over-sight that I have ever seen.

You're saying that when Todd claimed that there would be 300+ hours of content, that he meant "Oh, because you'll all be playing on different characters!" I think not.

Another thing, RPGs have never inherently been about playing multiple players. Typically, it's quite the opposite. We all have a main character to focus on, and some of us have side characters.

Interesting, I'm 400+ hours in and I still haven't done everything, nor have I even barely started the main quest.

Are you out hunting or getting your hands dirty in Bethesda-created content..?

Oh wait, you answered that question. See, this isn't entirely valid to the thread. If you aren't focusing on the MQ or most other things, you're automatically going to have an inflated play time.

Well, I'm still at my first character, and I'm working on putting all of his skills to 100.

(presently, let's say I am cheating a bit, due to overencomberence problems... I need to deposit and sell my stuff)

I'm confused. I had completed the MQ, Civil War, hit level 56, completed the Companions chain, destroyed the DB, cleared the major towns of side quests, never fast travelled, discovered over 200 locations, cleared over 50, and I was at 37 hours.

I've put more time in after that, but it's more of a chore now. How are people getting to these crazy totals?

I can't understand how you can have like 200 hours played and not even done any major quests, I have played about 95 hours and I have done all guilds, civil war, almost done with main quest, feels like I have been everywhere and playing the game these days feel more like a chore than the enjoyment it used to be :)

I don't get it, OP. You've played for 500 hours, so you got your 300 hours and much more.

the reality of the situation: you're [censored]ing about a technicality. get over it.

Lol. Love it. I kind of stopped after reading this as, while the OP seemed to be making a genuine point (how do they calculate hours), I'm guessing the rest of the thread will be posts about how many hours we;ve all played/how it's boring/how it's not boring etc. etc.

Erm - then don't play it?

That's what happens if you play one game all the time - Ihave that with just about every game I play. So I play another one...

Installing the Wars in Skyrim mod changed the game for me. Plenty of fights to get stuck into between quests to extend the life of the game! And hopefully some of the CK mods and possible future DLC will also be a great help in this regard. They're my thoughts anyway.

Personally I've done 103 hours so far and feel like I've hardly scratched the surface of the game :-)

The OP makes some good points but it's obvious that people savour this game & spend countless amounts of hours just living in the world., You cannot confuse this with content & Skyrim was designed to live in.
I'm sure it would take Bethesda about 20 years to fill Skyrim with 300 hours of active/quest content & it is in no way practical.(Not including the radiant thingy)

You can flesh it out & it's obvious that you will be repeating many things over & over again but you have to try to mix it up playstyle wise & it's possible to keep it fresh.

Edit, I'm using the wars in Skyrim mod too, The high difficulty version, It's keeping me on my toes & entertained.

I made an account just to post in this thread. We know that the developers did a speed run and completed it in little over 2 hours. I'm not at 300 hours yet but I don't that much fee time on my hands. I think it us easily achieveable with all the radiant quests. Even alot of the dungeons take around 45 mins to clear and there are about 160 of them, it all adds up. It just boils down to how you like play the game.
Do you mean the devs made Skyrim in two hours? or they beat it in two hours? also false. my questlog says i've cleared 202 dungeons, i'm not sure how many there are but there's at least over 200 of em :D
