That caught me a little bit off guard :D

They did fix some parts of Third Person. They fixed the running animation and now it looks somewhat realistic. The animation with you holding a gun however, is the worst I have ever seen.

I suspect the OP might have actually been talking about camera distance options in FO3. You could actually set the camera really far from your character, which allowed something more like a top-down tactical view, or even just to give a better sense of how many Giant Radscorpions were chasing at your heels. I thought it was a decent concession to the fact that there's no such thing as peripheral vision in an FPS.

Incidentally, I use third person view whenever I can, and only switch to first person when in enclosed spaces or fighting outside VATS. I did like how they changed the one-handed gun-holding animation in New Vegas quite a bit.

^ ^ ^ Yeah, same here. I really liked the adjustable view with the longer shot. In addition to a wider tactical view, I always thought it added a kind of epic loneliness to running across the wasteland. Sort of like a wide shot in a movie.

It did become a problem with followers, if you wanted them to stay running close behind you. The camera would jounce close and jump back to wide as you turned it. Pretty easy to dial it in like NV to solve that, or have the follower hang back.

The 3rd person view in NV is just a little tight, too. It's an odd shot to have just your character's feet cut out of the frame at the ankles... something you would never set up in a film because it looks awkward.
Could this be an easy mod for PC players?

The improvements that have been made to 3rd person make me actually use it for combat. I like it quite a bit. The new animations are a very, very welcome improvement.
