4gb enabler problem

Post » Wed Jun 29, 2011 6:32 pm

Hi! I have 4gb enabler from the nvse site installed. I can run it properly but when I alt tab to desktop, and open the task manager, I never see more than 1.7 gigs of RAM being assigned to the process. I also had nvse 1 beta 10 installed. Yesterday I tried nvse 2 beta5 and it did not do any chances.

Can anyone help me? Without this lots of addons and Tapiok's superb uhq texture files I am really getting CTD's every 10-15 mins or so (mostly a loading screen after fast travel that does never end so I have to close the game from task manager)

If I'm not mistaken, alt-tabbing would trigger a working set trim, so before you can get the task manager open, Windows has already drastically cut back on New Vegas' memory usage. So this may be throwing you off. Try running New Vegas in a window and check its memory usage without minimizing it.

Are you using a 64-bit OS? It's extremely unlikely that you'll see any improvement unless you are.

I did some testing with resource monitors. It never ever exceeds 1.99 gigs and when it gets to this number the game crashes (IMO).
