9800 GTX+ lag and Resolution problems

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:38 pm

I have a Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ and game barely runs due to lag ive tried setting all graphics to low and turning everything off and setting resolution to lowest and still didn't help. I can run both Crysis games, and portal 2 at full graphic settings but not this game. I also tried updating drivers and reinstalling direct x but still no difference. Also I can't set resolution to 1280 by 768 only widescreen option i get is 1280 x 720 that isn't supported by my screen. How do I fix so doesn't lag and can play at my resolution?, get a refund, or exchange for 360 version?

What kind of resolution is 1280x768? What is your monitor?

9800GTX+ user here. I let the game play in the default graphics settings, but I did bump the resolution up to my monitor's native resolution (1920x1200). Works flawlessly, so I know the card isn't the issue here.

What's your other stats on your rig?
I've got:
i5 750
8GB DDR3
Asus MoBo
9800GTX+

None of my components are overclocked. If you are, maybe that's the issue?

I'm having an issue where - only during gameplay - there is 2 seconds of choppy FPS followed by 2 seconds of solid FPS and it just cycles. It even effects my mouse and Steam shell. In the menus (with no game running) it is fine. All drivers are up to date, no virus scan is running, temperatures are normal.

I did manage to play one random game perfectly and then it started chugging again on the next map.

EDIT: I found this tidbit on Splash Damage's forum. Apparently there may be some issue with the solo campaign and how it creates/listens to the local server. http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24823
