Ability to drop agro when wounded.

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:13 pm

Am I the only one who wants to be able to 'drop agro' when wounded.

Lets face it, we are going to re-load and refight the baddies that just killed us so why not let us do what the followers do and drop agro meaning the said baddies ignore us till we 'life up' again and continue the fight.

We could also allow the baddies to 'life up' during that period to to make it fair on the poor NPC whipping sticks!

Err....considering the fact that we can freeze time and chug potions/food to our heart's content...I would say that is entirely unnecessary.

Er... you have clearly never run out of potions or sold them moments before entering the dungeon to buy more iron ingots to make 100000 daggers to exploit smithing to level up.

What's your point? If a player ran out of potions or knowingly sold them all right before entering a dungeon, that's the player's own fault and they should rightly be punished for it.

Wouldn't it make "death".... "unchallenging"? I mean, if you can simply ask for time out, then what's the point of health?

Followers can drop aggro since they can't be like you: you know when to run to fight another minute, but followers don't (try to tell your follower to jump over a pressure plate)

But there's already no penalty for dying, i don't see the point of this.
Anyway you can drop aggro with certain "monsters" already, like the thief that robs you periodically. Bandits, creatures, and hired thugs wont be likely to accept yields though, so its pretty much pointless

There could be a penalty for dying.. The anoyance of run through the entire dungeon over again cause you died on that hard-behinded boss?

1) Stock up on potions
2) Favorite Potions (For easy access)
3) Press "Q" (Since the game is paused during the menu)
4) Chug alot
5) Win..

I'd say a few hours of play time lost is already a great penalty enough

And don't say it won't happen because of autosaves, it has happened to me (although it's more like because of CTD, not death, but it's the same anyway)

Why not make everything in the game non-hostile towards us and, let's face it, we're just going to finish the game anyway so why not start at the end.

/sarcasm

Or like Haven&Hearth, you die there, your character is gone for good.

Why don't you just give yourself infinite health if you don't want to die?
You'd be taking away the challenge either way....

Alternatively, lower the difficulty if it's too hard.

Enemies leaving the wounded followers makes some sense since they'd probably consider them out of the battle for now and the still-fighting player a more urgent threat. But I don't think they'd have much incentive to stop fighting altogether; even an opponent that was inclined to be merciful wouldn't just leave us there in their base fully armed.

No. I completely disagree. A game that you cannot lose at sounds pretty boring to me.

You should try play Dark/Demon Souls. No pause for anything and when you die, you return to the last checkpoint/bonfire and lose all souls and all enemies respawn.

Not to make the cliche statement, but just because WoW has skills to drop aggro does not mean that other games should now have it in them. With a single player RPG, I don't really see the point of dropping aggro in the first place. And there is a skill in the stealth tree (I believe) that will make enemies seach around for a new target if you go stealth and are far enough away (which I wouldn't even really want in the game in the first place). Bottom line.. if you die... then you die. It should make you focus more on what you can do to NOT die, rather than just trying to break aggro and run away.

Just ask re123 who is rocking out "SS" as his icon lol. No breaking aggro in GW was there!?!?!? Nope..... you just all die lol. :)
