About the DLCs Pack when Pre-order

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:10 pm

Will these packs become buyable after the release of brink? If yes will there be a pack that contains all of them and that cost less in retail stores?
If its doesnt become buyable, could it be unlockable in the game but those who pre-ordered get it before us?

I imagine that's a question for the producers more than the developers - and mods would only know this if it was public knowledge.

It's a very good question though, it would be interesting if these are a free bonus for pre-ordering but you can purchase them later if you want.

They want to give you these items, so that people know you were here from the beginning. That you were a veteran. So I'm not sure. Being able to buy it for a limited time though would cool. But these packs should not be permanent. I think they should sell packs like these though. I think it would be awesome.

i'd assume since it's too show you were there from the beginning, it would be pre-order, and pre-order only. so that would mean not unlockable and not available for buying after the game is released.

on the other hand, everything is possible

I have no idea what is going to happen but I hope not.

The pre-order items are supposed to be special, not something that everybody wears. I have no problem with them adding more characters, but I think these should be restricted to pre-ordering. If you only had 12 characters to choose from I'd understand, but you've got hundreds of different possibilities already, does everybody need to get that mask?

I am hoping there is someway to getting the 'other' pre-order DLC, I have already pre-orded from steam, its the only place I buy games from these days, and I live in rual Australia so my choice of pre-orders will be limited anyways.. and I really like the Fallout and Doom packs and would love to get them but cash is limited and I can not be affording to buy many copies of the game just for the extra items..
So I would really like to see some way of being able to buy or get these 'extra' items another way to add to my already pre-orded Steam version of the game.

Valve/Steam aren't always the most well informed with non-Valve pre-release games but judging by the language in the news page the packs will be available to purchase eventually, but you just get one for free for pre-ordering from a certain store.

Did I not suggest this on the Pre-Order Pack announcement thread? I'm pretty sure I did, and that I would vote yes to it if it came to a vote.

Another thing I thought of... Does this mean the Spec Ops pack is PC exclusive? I might want it on my PS3 as well.

Wow Brink forum is much more active than COD7 is :)
Heres why I'd want them to actually be unlockable later, first in some pack there is guns and attachements so its kind of unfair if somebody has them and you cant get them and if you buy them its probably only going to be buyable online something that I cant do.

unfair?
they said it's to show your one of the first.
what would be unfair is making it unlockable so everyone would have it instead of only those who pre-ordered don't you think?

Wrong. If it's purely aesthetic like the shirts/hats etc. then it doesn't matter if they're pre-order exclusive, but things like exclusive attachments are not on unless they are essentially reskins of unlockable attachments everyone can get.

Well look at Battlefield Bad Company 2 limited edition was the same price as the normal edition execpt that you would get stuff before every one, Brink could do a kind of same thing and its not unfair for any one ,those who pre-ordered get them far way before those who need to unlock it.

.... BF:BC2 actually had EXCLUSIVE weapons for the people who pre-ordered. They still aren't available to anyone and probably will never be. The only thing is those exclusive weapons weren't so powerful :P
It would be nice if Bethesda keep the pre-order items exclusive to people who were loyal enough to pre-order... otherwise How would we be acknowledged for our loyalty and support?

Maybe have extra (new items) which can be purchased for those who want to chip in a little bit of extra money. Or have an exclusive Armour set for people who have achieved something great in the brink community.

No, there were no exclusive weapons. Everything could either be earned in game or were Vet rewards.

"Loyalty and support" Ive been liking Bethesda games since Oblivion not only ppls that pre-order are loyal to it and support them,
and I dont find that nice to make exclusive items for ppls that can pre-order, its not like every one can pre-order games, and yea BF BC2 never got exclusive weapons for those who pre-ordered the only thing they got was the beta which made them test the game before it was released something that should be done with Brink I think and then make ppls being able to unlock the items after 1 week that the game is released then

so pre-order gets : beta, exclusive acess to weapons/clothes for 1 week then its unlockable by others

OR Alternatively.... they could give people the items if the have the game related to it... e.g. Doom 1,2 or 3 (Doom pack), Fallout 1,2 or 3 (Fallout stuff) etc. Done by either cd-key or linking gaming accounts via online.

Even better, make it DLC that can be purchased.

YES! That's a great idea.
Though it should only become available to purchase after a set time period... e.g. 3 months after release. Just so people can show off their items before everyone else is entitled to them too.
