About The Vampire Attacks..

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:30 pm

What if the Vampire Attacks are actually random events that are only active during Dawnguard/Vampire Quests?

Kinda like how Thieves can be found in Riften if a TG Quest is active.. Or how the Companions can be found slaying creatures in the wild if a Companion Quest is active.. And so on..

Could explain why I never had Vampire Attacks cause I don't have a Dawnguard Quest active when I go into towns...

Only time I had Vampire Attacks was during the Moth Priest part of Dawnguard Main Quest and during a Dawnguard quest where I needed to kill a vampire in a town...Those were my only attacks..

Someone must test this theory at once!

Did you have a Dawnguard quest active? As long you have a Dawnguard Quest in your journal that isn't completed, it is active.

~Edit~

"Show Marker" isn't what I meant as Active.

I never had any companion quest active, or inactive when the companion I saw in the middle of no where got me just because I was curious what he was doing there. Sod got me to accept two quests, one of which is going to be waiting a long time for Braggen to go rescue her. And Braggen's first vampire attack was before he had even been to Fort Dawnguard. then in twenty minutes of play last night I had two dead thieves and a dead ex Riften Guard in Riften, true I have one of the never ending Thieves Guild side quests still to do, but the civil war quests are all over. There was also a pile of ash in Riften, but I believe that was from shortly after I started the DLC, it just refuses to clean up.

I think it is just random, how we get the random events. Same as it seems to be random how many there are, or some just never get there in time. Braggen has finished the main DLC quest line as a Vampire, he had 1 attack in Riften, 2 in Windhelm and there was perhaps 1 in Markarth since there was a weapon on the ground that should not have been there. I never saw the attack in Riften, I went into Honeyside too quick I would presume, the smithy and a beggar were lost. Other than that only guards were lost, I went and checked I could see no one else missing and Braggen only got two letters.

I think they run a few scripted events to try and get you interested in joining the companions.

I wandered off lots of times while having a DLC quest to do and went and did other quests and just general house stuff, no vampire attacks occurred during that time, although the Dawnguard usually turned up while Braggen was visiting the smaller towns.

Well.. I'ma test out my theory by fast traveling to towns like 25 times then start a DG quest and go to different towns 25 times again... And count up Vampire Attacks. This way I can be for sure on what is happening

~Edit~

The more I look at my new icon, the more I want to be a Vampire now...
