It's about time some small DLC comes out

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:42 pm

I honestly don't mind the cheap, little pieces of DLC. Fighters Stronghold was a personal favorite of mine in oblivion, and the Gun Runners pack for New Vegas was cool to play around with. As long as they aren't overpriced *cough* horse armor *cough*, I'd buy it. Hell, I even bought the horse armor for the reason that it looked cool. Besides, depending on what the DLC included, it might even make me create a new character....

I am 100% with you man, and yeah Oblivion had some great smaller DLC as well as big. The Fighters Stronghold was my favorite after the Shivering Isles.

Nah, I'd rather wait for an actual expansion.

What are you 12? How am I the troll? You are the one who stated that the first small DLC wouldn't be released till after the first expansion, when "the high res pack" the first small DLC is already out, before the expansion!

why must you snowball this? I meant that more dlc will follow after the first big add-on. I already knew the PC had the creation pack... cmon man you ARE trolling

LOL. Than why didn't you say that in the first place? I suggest better grammar structure next time you are trying to get something across, if you don't want people to misunderstand you.

*Cough* Morrowind and Oblivion maps *Cough*

They're going to make something big. And it's obviously going to involve the Thalmor. It's a story that hasn't ended yet, and both Tullius and Galmar made references that there will probably be a Thalmor-related DLC.

Small paid DLC should never be released. They should take their time making huge expansions (but sadly huge expansions are a thing of the past).
Think they found that Fallout 3 sized expansions gives best revenue, later they said somewhat larger so I guess fallout 3 point lookout is an good size. Faster and cheaper to make than SI but still large enough to give serious playtime and be must have items.

Think they will place the expansions in new land and not change the existing game much, benefit of this is that it reduce bugs introduces and makes development much easier.

http://kotaku.com/5885983/bethesda-skyrim-dlc-will-feel-more-like-expansion-packs

"Because the gap is going to be bigger, we want to put little things out for free in between. We've already done that for PC with the high res pack. We're trying to figure out what those things are." - Todd Howard

So thanks for the false info, free DLC for the PC has already been released.
Ty, nice, however I feel that the high resolution texture pack was something who was planned to be included in the game.
Doing it as an downloadable mod have the benefit of dropping the extra dvd and make it easy for people to try it and then remove it if the game run to slowly.
It was delayed as they wanted to relese it with the CK and the workshop.

If they can make ALL that gamejam stuff in a week, and give PC gamers something awesome like that creation kit then they can at least throw us console gamers a bone and give us a little somethin. I remember them talkin about that suprise, i got so excited, then awwwww only for PC gamers.

Maybe Kill Cam for Magicka and Archery (Optional)

Some kind of Acrobatic perk for Vampires/Werewolf or Jumping Height Enchantment Gear (Optional)

Build Custom House

New Mounts

Dragon Mount

Werebear

Vampire Lord

I mean something

You guys are being too impatient. You all must learn that if you want a GOOD DLC and not a cheap piece of crap then it will take the Devs time to do.

I`m glad it`s taking a while. The longer they take, the better and more comprehensive will be the DLC.

I remember Todd mentioning that there would be small tidbits that will come out for free.

Well, it's free so I can't argue with that.

Build custom houses lol? Stop and think how that would actually affect the game. As people have said, they should focus on making real expansions, not dripping out tiny bits of DLC that they charge ridiculous prices for.

Todd said that they are not doing "small" dlc's. He said they are going to feel more like expansions. Thank goodness.

If they take any longer mods would have been created already that add everything they would have made. 1000's of decent mods are out already which make the game so much better, this house for example http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10901

They should bring back 'Spell Tomes' from Oblivion. And they should use this to add in the old Unlock magic spells, aswell as paralysis rune.

Horse Armor?

No, I'll patiently wait for a real expansion. If they want to add Game Jam stuff to the expansion that'd be, AWESOMESAUCE!

Most of the stuff from the jam (ranged/magic killcams, paralysis runes, spears, etc) should've came on disc anyways, so I don't see why we would have to pay for them?

Werebear, Lycanthropy perk tree, maybe Vampire Lord I would pay for, since they seem in essence to be an expansion pack, albeit a very very small one.

I wouldn't pay for small DLC, never. What a waste of money. I have mods for that.
Expansions is the way to make me interested, and it exactly what Bethesda is doing.
There may be smaller free DLCs from the GameJam stuff, and I hope, because that looked awesome. Or the GameJam stuff could be included in one of those expansions.

Perhaps in a month or two we'll see the first expansion pack, I think. It feels like the time is right, soon.

I'm glad it's taking awhile. Most of my complaints about the game revolve around my perplexity on whether they invested enough time on certain elements of the game.

Now that they've got a lot of foundation out of the way (engine, resources, etc), they can solely focus on content. And the fact that it might take awhile is promising.

Sure, I totally agree they should never have removed stuff, but I don`t think they`ll put that stuff back in cos they reckoned it`s what made their game successful.

That`s the sad thing, we`ll probably see more watered down stuff now.

But if we wait and give it time, maybe they`ll surprise us with something decent with a lot more stuff added back in. But it all takes time if we want a good job done and not a bug-fest.

Id like them to fix the various obvious and rather hidious bugs before making more (likely bugged) DLC.

Paid expansions should offer both quality and quantity. The concept of DLC has been abused for too long. Let Bethesda (those who started the decline with their horse armor) give example for the new way.

However I wouldn't mind some small free DLC. Like free armor or a mirror that allows you to change your haircut/remove dirt/etc.
