I absolutely HATE Sidgis Gaulderson

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 9:23 am

I beat him once, but now I am fighting all three of those bastards to reforge the amulet. I can't even get close to this guy. He or one of his two dopplegangers just fus ro dah the [censored] out of me before I can get close enough to swing my sword. Then they slaughter me with arrows that do tremendous damage. I refuse to turn down the difficulty. I wish this game had more boss fights, but this one crosses the line between challenging and frustrating. It isn't the enemy so much as it is the fact that whenever they fus ro dah me it takes forever to get back up while I get pin cushioned. That is bad game design. It is clunky and stupid.

ARRRRGH! Anyway, no point really except to vent and see if anyone has similar issues.

Just tried again. I literally couldn't take three steps without being fus ro dah'd. No hope at all. I couldn't even walk across the floor. This is stupid. I love challenging boss fights - one of the things that makes me a huge Castlevania fan - but this crosses the line.

I am level 47 btw.

well it works the same way if u do it to them, so keep shouting and keep strafing. Go in, gets some hits off and back awY. Shout, use arrows, and just imploy guerilla style tactics. Bleed them to death and keeping move in fir an atk and backing away. U can dodge the shouts and if theres pillars, u can use them to disapaite the shouts as well.

There are no pillars in the second battle. I am on master difficulty and I am getting my ass kicked.

[censored] this. If I fus ro dah Sidgis, one of his followers does the same to me before I can even swing the sword once. By the time I can move again I have about 80% of my health gone. I try again, and the second time kills me.

Mother of God I just noticed he has three clones the second time instead of two.

I know how you feel. I beat Alduin in a minute, two times, but Sidgis is still a big pain in the back.
He and his (censored) clones...

I know. Alduin was just an overgrown Skeever. Ancient dragons on master are crazy though.

Isn't Sidgis Gauldurson that draugr that can teleport?

The one with bows?

He's annoying, but lucky me I usually don't get Fus Ro Dah'ed more than 5 times during the ordeal. In fact, I don't think I've ever been Fus Ro Dah'ed 5 times by him

My tactic usually involves employing bow (or ranged attacks), hide behind something, and target only one position. That makes it easier to concentrate. The real Sidgis have the usual Draugr Death Overlord helmet instead of Steel Horned Helmet style, so if I'm lucky, I can strike him. It involves a lot of patience, but I've killed 'em twice. 4 times if you count the first battle with him

And I find summons to be extremely useful, and enemy Fus Ro Dah generally won't do much harm if you're on their face. I find that enemy Fus RO Dah doesn't hit me at all when I'm hacking away at them at kissing distance.

The real one has a different helmet; that makes it easier to target the right one. Regarding getting knocked over, do you use a shield and do you have any blocking perks? They help with not getting blown away by the shout. Spellbreaker in particular if you have done Peyrite's quest is useful.

I used the coffin and those two protrusions in the back on the room to give myself some cover. Yeah, if he Fus Ro Dahs you on Master, you're dead, because 1 arrow will probably kill you.

Use wards, and take the atronach stone for the battle. You only need the ward up to block the shout, which then takes a while to recharge so you can attack him, the stone will allow you to absorb half the shouts.

You can also use become ethereal to avoid the knockdown.

Get yourself one of those Frost or Storm Atronach Summoning Staves. Poke him with arrows while he is distracted and wasting his shouts on the atronach.

I took them at level 1 on mastery difficulty using this method.

Range attack always seemed to be the easiest way to take him out.

Didn't have too many problems with my mage - lightning staff and firebolt range attacks. The fighter though had a lot of hassle and would have gfailed if it wasn't for aela and her bow. So as others have said use range attacks.

This is my usual tactic. It usually helps in defeating him relatively faster, unless he kills me first.

With my melee character, I used whirlwind sprint to get into striking range quickly- about the most useful application of that shout I can think of.
As mentioned above, don't waste time with the fakes and summons/followers are a big help.

By far the most frustrating fight I had which beat a final fight for the Mage Quest and that was pretty darned frustrating as well.

I am skeptical that anybody who doesn't have the reflexes of a bat can do this on Master but if you want to try, best of luck. The only hint I can give is that the brothers' (you have three distinct fights here) ghosts wear different hats than their summoned helpers. IIRC, the horns of the brothers are turned down rather than straight up. This may be 180 out but look closely at the hats to decide which one to attack. You are wasting your efforts going for the summoned things.

If you really want to beat this on Master, I suggest you turn the difficulty all the way down, try the brothers on a low setting to get the idea and then restore, replay on Master.

i gave up the first time and went back once I had leveled up some more. I returned with Mjoll ( I equipped her with some really good armor and enchanted weapons) and I also deployed the dremora using the Sanguine Rose. They kept the enemies busy while I then stood on the sidelines crouching to remain invisible and fired daedric arrows (24 dp) from a daedric enchanted bow (31 points of fire damage). Using invisibility perks I was able to score 3x damage for sneak attacks and really whittle the enemies down quickly.

I can respect that a purely melee class would be frustrated with all the hopping around, but if you go ranged it becomes almost trivial, if time-consuming. I just go up to Sigdis' platform far enough to pop the sarcophagus, then run out the corridor and hide. He won't come out of the watery chamber, and his teleporting is on a timer. Just equip a ranged weapon of choice, creep back into the corridor, and wait for him to appear on the round platform in your line of sight. Don't bother with his shades, just keep worrying him.
