Since Fallout New Vegas released I have been reading these forums because of the constant freeze issues this game has produced. I really enjoy Fallout New Vegas and I enjoyed Fallout 3. What I don't understand is all the svcking up to these game publishers. Its ridiculous to think they are not the cause of the hardware failure in PS3's that is happening. To think this is coincidence is utter stupidity on the part of the publisher and consumer. The consumer shouldn't have to update there hardware meaning buy a new PS3 to have the pleasure of playing this game. To be honest I am not even sure that is so much the case as I have heard and seen this game freeze even the newer models. Isn't time to just admit the game has an issue? Unfortunately I do have an older model, not to old but I do not have a slim, bought before the slim release. Fallout New Vegas is the only game I have constant issues with. I also had issues with Fallout 3. Now it does not get more clear than that. The game is the issue. This has gone to the point of where I shelved the game, waited for the patch. The latest patch came out and in my opinion has made the matter worse. Freezes happen quicker and more frequently than they ever did. There is no way I can justify playing this game on my PS3 and taking the chance to replace a console because of a game.

In conclusion I think its too bad so many people don't have the common sense and the knowledge to see where the problem really is. PS3 is not the issue, Fallout as a series is. Unfortunately because of this Bethesda/Obsidian have lost my business. I wish this was not the case but I believe this to be a sound decision given the information I currently have. unfortunately, it is unlikely anyone from Bethesda/Obsidian will read your entire post, let alone respond to it. their customer support is lacking(I've had at least 10 back and forth emails trying to properly explain my issue, just to have them say "we've referred you to our next level of support, who will get back to you shortly. that was last month), and they would never admit to anything being wrong with their engine/software. the most you might get is some sympathy from a mod and not have them lock/delete this.

Restore file system fixed all of my freezing problems once they started happening. Try it.

I really agree with you. I personally find this freezing thing with these games to be unacceptable. But...

Here I go again, spending money for another Fallout game. It's funny that I actually really love the game. And I think I keep buying them 'cause I think one day they'll fix itself. Kinda naive, I know. Yeah, I'm a svcker and Bethesda/Obsidian knows it, too! I wish the game actually svcks, so I really wouldn't have to even think about buying the game! :biggrin:

I wish I can just play the game without being so paranoid; I freak out if I don't save every two minutes or so. I don't know... playing a game feeling like that doesn't seem right, ya know?

check a post of mine called "for people with freezing issues". basically, you google "safe mode ps3 forums" and it should come up. you need to restore the file system. there's some other suggestions on my topic, should be under this sub-forum.(ps3 hard/software issues)

You even said in your own post this is not a complete fix. I am not interested in a work around, its still taking the same gamble in the end just a longer road to get there.

That proves my point though. Most consumers are willing to bow down to the publisher that produces a sub par game and possibly gambling on their console to the point of having to replace it. Fortunately for me I am in the habit of making sound business decisions and temporary fixes does not fall into what I call 'sound' business. The issue needs to be fixed from the side on the of Bethesda/Obsidian, which I know will not happen.

Oh well, can't crusade against something like this when we are so content to accept what we receive. I do appreciate the read though.

HA! bow down to the publisher? Bethesda can go eat [censored]! I put 140 bucks into their product, and I would like to be able to play it, thank you very much. so if I have to use "temporary workarounds" as opposed to "wasting 140 bucks", I'll use as many [censored] temporary workarounds I want. you can shelve your game if you want. I was making a helpful suggestion.

You can curse all you want, bottom line is you paying the money for it and accepting it, you are a tool to them and nothing more. Not only did I shelve the game but posted it on Craigslist and sold it within an hour today. Let some other fools mess with it, plenty of other games out there that do not cause the same problem. I took a little loss in the end but nothing like I would if I had kept it.

I am not saying the temp work-arounds are bad, glad you like them. Its just not for me with the cost of the game. I shouldn't have to put more energy into a game that is so 2nd rate. The truth hurts though doesn't it?

tools huh? well, considering you purchased the game as well, your as much a tool as anyone else. doesn't matter if you sold it, we bought the game same way you did, and since your head is so far up your ass you can't properly hear yourself think, let me put it in simple terms;

just because you chose to sell the game after paying for it, doesn't make you any different then us "tools"

the only reason I'm still playing it is because I love the game, and I've already payed for it. I'm not svcking up to the company, nor am I saying that the issues clearly present in the game aren't a big deal. they're a [censored] pain in the ass. but I've already put the money into it.

mines up on the classifieds too, and as soon as I get an offer i like I'll sell it. your no different from the rest of us that bought this mess just because your a self-centered [censored] and think everything and anything you do is the right thing. your just a big ol' [censored] with your head up to far up your ass.
