So I stupidly sold the coral claw before I completed the quest that required it. I've revisited every merchant in Skyrim trying to find it and buy it back, but no luck. Will merchants resell quest items, or will the items disappear from merchant inventory after a specific amount of game time has passed? I'd really like to complete the quest, but that's impossible without the claw. Help, anyone?

there are many claws in this game. right they have all other animal combinations but the form is the same....try another one if you have one and with luck you find the right combination on the door...its just an idea

if not, where did you get the claw originally? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Birna is supposed to have one but there might also be one in the barrow where it's needed.

I like consistency.

Fire salts = not quest items, I need 10 of them before handing them in, I keep selling them (because I'm an idiot).

Some random lute = still marked as a quest item, even though I handed it in, still remains in my inventory, and can't sell it.

I better be able to drink that Balmora Blue now that I'm done with the quest.

Thanks Geckoman. Other claws (I tried ruby and sapphire) don't seem to work, even though they all seem to have the same dimensions.

Claws will stay in the merchant inventories forever, but if you sold it to the khajits, that may be hard to track down.
