IP Address Problem

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 3:10 pm

Since no one is responding to my question on the Terraria Thread IV, I'll just ask it here. So how do I get my PC to accept any IP I desire, whether I want to join or host a game in Terraria? I can't join my friend's world, and he can't join mine. So, again, how do I unblock any IP address I wish?

Could you better describe your problem? That is, how you're doing what you're trying not do, and more detail on how it isn't doing what you want.

did you forward the proper ports on your router? Did your friend forward the proper ports on his router?

(or did you both at least make sure UPnP was enabled?)

Well when it asks for his IP, I put in his IP, and when it asks for the port, I leave it as 7777 because that is the default. Then when I try to connect, it just says "Connecting" for all eternity.

(What is UPnP?)

Did you and your friend make sure to forward port 7777 to your Internal IP? (Obviously setting your PC on a static Internal IP as well)

Also, when I try to play on slimserve.myftp.org, which is a public server, it can't connect as well. So it's definitely something wrong with my PC not accepting any IP addresses I ask it to visit.

You never set up port forwarding and/or enabled UPnP. If you tell us your Router make and model, we can help you, but short of that all we can do is tell you to forward 7777 to your PC.

I thought you said it was a problem with your firewall?

i have no idea of the problem. My router is Netgear WNDR3300.

BTW, my friend fixed his PC and I can go to his world now, but no one can come to mine and i cant go to anyone else's besides his, so is there a way to allow in any IP i desire?

Okay, so I know it's not a problem with the firewall because I allowed Terraria and it still didn't work so it's definitely the Router.

So you have 7777 TCP/UDP forwarded on your Internal IP Address (192.168.x.x). To find you Internal IP: click Start, go to Run.. type cmd . In the command prompt type ipconfig . Your IP address is under IPv4 Address

I don't own Terraria so I don't know how to connect to servers. However its probably as simply as entering the correct Server IP Address.

Now if you want some to connect to your server to need to give them your External IP Address or connect through a VPN like Hamachi. They will need to connect to the VPN and then input the Hamachi IP Address.

To connect to slimserve.myftp.org server just enter slimserve.myftp.org in the IP Address entry (or 90.195.123.158). Note: This server isn't available 24/7. It could simply be down.
