Advice For All those Struggling with this Glitches

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:09 am

Hello all, I haven't been on this forum in a while, for reasons that will become evident later in this post, but I thought I'd check in and see if this game had been patched yet. After reading several threads, it became evident that the team supposed to be fixing this game is most likely in the REAL Las Vegas, spending the money we svckers gave them on hokers and blow. So I thought I would share a bit of my wisdom to those of you who are trying to play this glich-fest, and that pearl is; trade this [censored] in.

Seriously. This game is a bigger mess than New York City on September 12th. The company that produced this garbage does not deserve our money. Sure, we paid for the game already, and it's unlikely to receive a full refund (I didn't), but in trading this [censored] in you can accomplish two things:

1) You can get store credit to go towards a game that functions as something more than a coaster with a hole in the middle (I suggest CoD, as it actually had effort put into it, and your save-game data doesn't self-destruct like a note for Inspector Gadget every time you leave the room).
2) You can prevent yourself from purchasing the upcoming DLC which will inevitably be full of even more glitches.

As someone who has done this already, I can say that I'm getting much more enjoyment out of a CoD game than I thought possible, and it's a thousand times better than staring blankly at a screen that says "Save Game Corrupted".

Waiting for an update on a patch for this game is like sitting stranded on the beach of a deserted Island waiting for a reply to your message in a bottle. This is Obsidian, we're talking about. Remember Alpha Protocol? No, because you didn't play it, and good for you on that, but the four or five people out there that did have long-since passed away holding their breath, waiting for a patch for that showcase of Obsidians developmental capabilities.

Do yourself a favour and trade this [censored] in while you can still get 25 bucks for it. I did, and I haven't regretted it once since I did.

A cut and paste job from a post I made in another thread, about people alway pointing the finger soley at Obsidian for this bug infested game......

To everone blaming it all on Obsidian.
Lets look at Bethesda's history. First there is this little gem that people seem to forget:
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/fallout-3s-pitt-players-complain-about-glitches-freezes/

Then there was the whole PS3 Fallout 3 GOTY Edition that was apparently bugged to hell and apparently unplayable to many PS3 owners:
http://www.giantbomb.com/fallout-3/61-20504/fallout-3-goty-for-the-ps3-is-the-disappointment-of-the-year/35-271693/

Bethesda have a very well known history of failing badly when it comes to bug testing. As publishers and owners of the Fallout franchise they had final say on when there game is to be released.

What is very clear to me is that Obsidian were very rushed in this games development. And I am very sure they had removed things from the game due to lack of time. Like the Rock-It Launcher schmetics appearing in the game but they took the actual weapon out the game so the schmetics do not work when taken to a workbench. The wiki site states the developers forgot to remove the schmetics aswell.

I bet a lot of those numerous houses with borded up doors were intended to originally be accessable but they had no time to add interior locations so they just made the houses inaccessable.

To me this game just feels like its been rushed badly. And Bethesda's strict deadline was going to be met, regardless of how much of the game was complete.

I am tempted to return my game, but I like the game and am patiently waiting; although I am a bit peeved.
I also wanted to share two comments by two users, combined and paraphrased, it goes something like this: I have played this game through 2x and gf has played for 110 hours and we have no problems (so ha to all of you who are having issues). This forum has listed several work arounds to all the issues, (I won't admit that this is not true) all you have to do is jump through a bunch of hoops while balancing on your head while holding your breath and reciting the Gettysburg address backwards and in sanskrit.
To those who think a game is playable in 5min increments before it crashes and several quests do not offer the player the ablility to finish them due to nonexistent items and npc not wanting to talk you are more patient than I. However when I pay $60 for a game I do not accept the rationale that I should jump through hoops in order to sort of play the game. I am fine with invisible things and some odd placements and even the extraordinary long load times (I am waiting about 5min for every door or location to load, I know all the game hints offered during scene loading), but what I am not ok with is someone or some company telling me that I must accept the state of this game, limit my ability to play and just shut up about the issues I am having. If this is how we are to be treated I guarantee this will be the last game I purchase from, Beth, Ob and any and all of their subsidiaries. I am extremely disappointed with the issues we face and I know that they must of known prior to release, I got 15 min in and I crashed multiple times, they should be thanking us with a cherry on top for hanging in and not selling it back. The release of the dlc in dec is slap in the face to the players, "deal with the freezes and undoables, work around it, you know so that game play becomes a chore and no longer enjoyable, buy our new dlc and maybe someday we will get around to fixing the glitches" I might be a little harsh but I feel that work around comment is absolutely callous and disrespectful, regardless of who it came from as is the quality of the game.

Working on painting my truck a new color. Turns out Fallout New Vegas makes a fine quality sandpaper to smooth out the rough edges. I am appalled and dismayed they wouldn't let me take it back after I sanded down my pickup.
