Advice on the Blades

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:09 pm

Ok, on my Nord Pro-Stormcloak playthru i got a question about the Blades. Now i still dont think its right to kill Paar, BUT my Nord is trying to become the new or replace Talos by doing so he become the head of the mage's guild not becuase hes so skilled with magic..no its because he realizes he a figurehead but with the Shouts he is the most dangerous "mage" so hes the protector, he joined the Thieves guild for the info gathering and gold income, he joined the champions for the honorable status, and hes joined the Dark brotherhood for the assassins he'll need in the noble courts...and hes joining up with the Blades for personal protectors, and this is where i need the advice.

The Blades are sworn to protect and serve the dragonborn emporers, and yes my Dragonborn is a dragonborn he is not an emporer, will this 'new" group serve and protect me? Also i would liek having a grp of assassins and spies that are focused on protecting me BUT if delphie is gonna train them from her past actions is she gonna train them to even serve me and if there comes up with a situation that they feel needs to be done willthye think its alright to give me an ultimatum also? My question boils down to this "new" grp of blades what is their actual purpose? Is it to serve me or is delphie the one in charge and i am part of the grp not above it?

My charector is a normally good charector but usually lives within the shades of grey lifestyle, and while he dosent agree with killing Paar he will do it if it brings him another step closer to bringing the glory back to Skyrim and his country having a strong and protecting rulers for all its people.

They may have once upon a time, now their just the dragonslayers of old with no political affliation and killing Pathnx is just picking up where they left off.

you can only ever "recruit" three followers to Blades status in addition to yourself and the two Blades you already know.

I'd say it's really less for your buck than you're looking for and... hey... those 5 could create a whole new army soon.

I still haven't done it. 5 Blades, 2 of which tick me off and don't do as they're told isn't really worth it to me to kill a character that has only ever been totally straight with me, as near as I can tell.

Within the game, the Blades are practically extinct and haven't been protectors of the emperor for a LONG LONG time. And when they were protectors, they failed at it in a big way. I think if you rely on them you might as well paint a target on your back. Esbern's a good archivist though.

Eh, the Blades show they don't respect you and won't follow you the way the old Blades followed the Emperors. I don't let the Blades have anyone, since they clearly can't be trusted. I don't want to waste good talent on them, and if I give them bad talent then those people are more likely to become ignorant bigots like Delphine and Esbern.

lol, you people are fatalistic. i think any faction you choose is strengthened. there's no ultimate end for any of them. other than the one you chose for them. if you like to create a story with you and the blades, then just do it. have fun. don't let someone here tell you it's destined to fail or something. you're here to create your own story, not have some random schmoe dictate it to you.

true, but i am going off the actual story/actions int he game as well though. Im trying to read between the lines and understand why things are a bit different, because so far it seems that delphie and esbern canbe classified as "dragonguards" who are ur equals/superiors whereas the people u recruit will be the "blades" that protect u. The whole delphie/esbern ultimatum seems pointless at the moment as in not actually needed to coinside with Lore, but again the game isnt over yet because we dont know what the full consequences will be becasue the DLCs arent out yet....

but ya id have to admit that delphie and esbern's ultimatum really turned ALOT of peopel off including myself to thier cause, but that action also strengthens peopels doubts about the group and what their main purpose is if they are willing to throw it all away for you the dragonborn dosent do soemthign that was denied them during thier time of the emporers..seems more like takign advantage of u and the situation and the whole thing gives the impression that they are soemthign different that what they are labeled as. In the game i WANT the Blades of lore, not dragonguards who are sayign they are blades. If they were seriously Blades, WHY would they throw all fo ti away not just thier groups but every other surviving Blade out there chance of having purpose. It just seems fishy that they are throwing away the whole groups purpose/function and literally nailing the nail on the coffin if u choose not to do thier ultimatum...the same thing that was DENIED them under the peopel they served under, which means that with them not accepting No from you, that maybe they feel they are no longer under thier own oaths and dont have to do the whole protect/serve/advise thing the Blades of yore did, that these 2 are operating under different motives.

Again, i ahve chosent o side with them during my playthru for a "greater good/purpose" reason for doing so, but maybe im just tryign to reason in my head what the unknown future and consequences for joining them is gonna be...but gotta wait for ALL the dlcs to come out i know to really eb able to ask that question.
