After Playing F3 and F:NV....

I've come come to realize that alot of the reason there is so much rubble and dead technology isn't because they can't rebuild anything, it's because they are being lazy and ;woe is me' about a Post War world. I mean, granted it's hard, but whole settlements complain about their problems, and yet they have to wait until one man like the Fallout protaganists show up to save them, if one wo/man can save an entire region, if more people did that, they'd be making a push in the right direction. The Post-War US needs more people with the drive to create a new world.

I agree but this seems to be an inherent problem with most RPGs. For some reason the NPCs appear to be stupid and useless and have to wait for the main character to perform even the simplest tasks of all. I wanted to post a letter to my parents for years now but I couldn't and I had to wait for someone like you, or I need somebody to kill the rats in my garden so can you take this super gun from my room and do it for me? Unfortunately that sort of thing appears even in games made by developers who are considered to be really good at writing.
